Forgive yourself Weekender Thread Aug. 28th until..
I'm at my desk. *****. A keyboard instead of my tiny phone screen. Yesssss!
Jane, my dad will be in hospital for a few more days. I've not spoken with him, just my mother. He's been battling pneumonia, I guess. For a couple of months now. He's more comfortable so that is primary at this point. I'll go see him this evening after work.
No, Bim, nothing will catch fire here. We're responsible adults

I asked Anna to flip us but we are not shy... Any mod will be welcomed!!!
As for me... I confirmed I don't have to go to Amsterdam. Woo how. I just am not up for traveling. Still need close to home for now.

Sao, have any keyboard outbursts you want. It's frustrating that it is continuing to rain but you can listen to the the storm. I love rainy days.
I've just watch two Florence + the Machines videos in a row. Very odd.

Doin' OK here. A Yin & Yang kinda day.
The Yin ~
Drove up to around 10,000', and had a long, neato cruise through serious Alpine Forest. Dense stuff, but on good quality Roads. As I thought might be the case, the large Reservoir holding Water for neighboring Ranchers had been drained dry. For me, this meant Fishicus Interruptus.
Cruised back down and fished a local River. Caught one little Guy on a Lure, and tossed him back. After being up in 49 F Degrees, it was flat out hot in the Sun by the River. So, I fished below an Underpass down by a lil Town; mainly because it was accessible through the Brush. Stepped around an assortment of Beer Cans, and empty Shooters of all flavors lining an unoccupied Encampment.
The Yang ~
Ran into an older Gent Geocaching 'down by the River', as Chris Farley used to say on SNL. I noticed he had Ham Radio Car License Plates, so he and this ex-Ham talked some Techie Stuff. Including the Radio-based Link I'm planning to install to bridge from the House to the DSL Phone Box at our Solar-run Gate ~1,400' away. He went on - quite nicely - about how his purported 10 Meg DSL 'Net Service from this same, sole Telecom Provider has tanked in speed over the last year. They cannot/will not do the Infrastructure Upgrades to ensure decent Speeds beyond the speedy, local Fiber Optic-based Office. However, they keep signing up Folks while promising wonderful DSL Speeds 'x,y,z'. This is a major Pisser, because they're my only connectivity option right now. SOOO, my instantaneous change in Tech Strategy is to spend the minimum on Antenna/Link -> Gate 'stuff' [$150-], and pay more monthly for their guaranteed Business Speed DSL 'Net Service vs. 'anything goes' Residential Service. TBD... Then, roll the Dice in a few weeks and connect. We'll see how it all plays out over the coming months. What's a Mutha to do?
This morning was like being in another World ~1 hour drive away, That takes the edge off these lil perturbations intrinsic to Rural Living. Great Sunrises & Sunsets. Decent 'Net connectivity? Not so much.
I/we love Amsterdam. As a Seatmate from there told me while flying back to Chicago: 'If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much'. He was having a laugh, by that statement, about the Dutch attitude of 'assured-ness'. Just shy of being an egotistical Culture, in his considered opinion. After being forced to inhabit Sand Dunes historically Sea-side, they have a long History of hardcore pragmatism, and mastering sucko circumstances. Major Dikes to keep from drowning in Storms, and all that. A good kind of mastery we all can relate to, I think.
In other Wild West News, here's how the way-heavy Drape Panels turned out. Silk lined. Solar-resistant Backing that would keep out a Nuclear Blast.

Ditto what Brynn said, Mesa. Gorgeous drapes, room and view.
Visited my Dad. His color looks better. He's got about five iv lines going at the same time. He seems rather befuddled but not confused. My mom said there's been talk of him going for a month to a cardiac rehab facility when he's discharged from the hospital. Probably not a bad idea.
Little Miss and I went for frozen yogurt after the visit and are now home. I'm tired. Long day.
