Hi all. Checking in on day 2.
Feeling so many feels every second of everyday is super draining. I don't mean to sound so dramatic. But this grief seems never ending. Especially with texts from people who didn't seem to give a crap year ago. And the pittying looks everyone gives me. My FIL cannot look at me without tearing up. It is just a lot.
But sober is definitely better.

I don't think there is anything on the planet that is harder than what you are going through, dear Citrus.
And I am sorry for the people who don't understand or give pitying looks.

I love you very much, and we are all with you every minute. ❤️❤️

And a late good morning and afternoon to everyone. ❤️

Thanks Suze. Rough 24 hours with the pity. Lol I was coming to see if I was in time to delete that little rant.

I don't think it is pity at all. s

I have no idea what my mum did with respect to grief counsellors when my brother died—it was the 60s, and I honestly don't know if much counselling was available then.
I do know that I went to a grief counselling group after I lost her—she also died from a terrible accident. I needed help, and I needed to cry in a safe environment if that makes sense. ❤️

Hugs to you Citrus, I was here in November and read what you were going through, I cannot imagine that level of pain. I mean I can , but until it happens, no one can, not really. You did not rant and if you think you did, so what? We are here to support you. I wish you so much love.

And thank you to all of you for your words of support, Venus, Dee, Bobbie and I know I’m forgetting others. I am teary eyed reading all the posts of support (in a good way), probs drowned, literally, my emotional senses from drinking, so I’m sure my sober days are peeling away the wine scab on my feelings. I’m ok with it.

Citrus, I can't imagine how hard it is to be through grief as you are. You are in my thoughts. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross pioneered the 5 stages of grief in her amazing book "On Grief and Grieving" and I highly recommend this book, if you feel up to reading a bit.

JulySeaCoast, the early days are often full of emotion, but know for sure that you can get through this.

Bobbie, good morning to you, too. I hope you have a great day.

Thank you all.
I took a little afternoon nap to try and grow a little thicker skin for tonight's basketball game. Both boys are playing over an hour away from one another so I am taking 8th grade tonight. A little more mellow than watching high school. And a little further away puts me where people are a bit less likely to know who I am.
I have earbuds, knitting and snacks all ready to go.

No stopping for beer on the way home.

Congrats on day 100 Runner! That is awesome!

Welcome to the group Citrus!

Bobbie - thanks for the shoutout. Hope you’re doing well.

JustTony - I hope you are doing better today too.

Day 6 here. Stressful day at work but did some breathing exercises and feel much better. Also still dealing with some lingering physical withdrawal stuff but nothing major. I know I’ll be through that crappy phase soon. Purchased a new book that I will start tonight and have a ton of errands to take care of too. Amazing how much more energy I have when not drinking. When I’m drinking everything (no matter how big or small) feels like a Herculean task.

I’m committed to 24 more sober hours. Hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

Dinner time! Waiting for my Hello Fresh to arrive. This is a tricky time of day for me. I LOVED drinking wine while cooking. I had the automatic ingrained thought this afternoon ~ Oh yay! Wine and cooking ~ then I remembered, oh yeah……..
I’ve avoided the kitchen in the past attempts at not drinking, but that meant take out and I don’t want to do that.

I like a flavored drink so I’ll have a cranberry seltzer and lime. I’m not a mixed drink drinker so that combo doesn’t make me feel like I’m missing the alcohol. Have a wonderful sober evening!
