Spoke again at this morning's AA meeting. I think I'm really throwing myself into recovery for the first time in five years where I was on-and-off trying to get sober.
My sister is at home for two weeks. She's not speaking to me because of my drinking. It's very upsetting. I hope in time she can forgive me. We used to be pals.

It sounds like you’re really determined Freedom. Hopefully your sister will come around given time, and her seeing you putting so much into creating a sober life. Time does heal, as they say, especially if she can see the effort you’re making.
I’m just winding up my day (16) with dinner and then an early night. I can’t seem to get enough of these early nights, I’m always so tired.

I saw your thread in other forum FF.
I had a friend in that forum who always used to say the addict in her life didn't get to set the timetable for her forgiveness.
Thats tough to read, but its true.
My experience tho is that once people saw I was truly committed to change that some reconciliation did occur in most cases - but not all.
I hope you'll be ok with your sister - in time

Had my scale and polish. Going to try and look after my teeth from now. So I'm giving up vaping, coffee, sugar and coke zero. Been 76minutes since I had my last vape. Keep unconsciously reaching into my pocket for my pen and realizing I threw it out. I think the first five days are supposed to be the hardest and then it gets easier.

Hey everyone. I f'ed up and am starting again in the July class this time. Really happy for and proud of y'all who are keeping at it. The sleeplessness and emotional beating I'm giving myself is most definitely not worth it. Stay strong!

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully this time sticks.
FF, quitting nicotine is hard. For me it was more involved in my everyday activities than alcohol was. It took time but I kicked it. If I relapsed I just immedietly threw away whatever nicotine I had bought. Over a month or two I had eliminated most of my daily associations until I just never bought it again. Good luck. I would not do sugar at the same time though. That is my opinion but I would rely on sugar for a bit to get through the nicotine quit and then do sugar after that.

Got back from the AA meeting and my dad had taken the vape out of the bin. He thinks I should just focus on quitting drinking for the moment and not try and do too much at once. I think he might be right. When I'm more secure in my sobriety i can quit nicotine.
The AA meeting was very quiet. Only ten people. Was awkward sharing with a mask on.

I'm sorry you drank but glad you made it back dizzybee
Like I said in this thread or another one I quit drinking and smoking at the same time (no vapes in my day) and I'm glad I did it that way but its not for everyone,
Its good your parents are getting involved in your recovery FF.

Hi everyone
Well done on coming back Dizzybee
Freedom I unashamedly used sugar to quit smoking. And the Allan Carr book about smoking. And nicotine gum for a year which I cut into smaller and smaller pieces. Then onto sugar free gum. Then I ditched that too. I put on a few kilos, but it was worth it. But I agree, it’s hard to give up more than one thing at a time. I don’t think I could have stopped drinking and smoking at the same time. I haven’t smoked in more than 8 years now and the cravings have totally gone.
I hope that once I’ve stopped drinking for a long time the cravings will go away too....
