The Power Of Sobriety Thread (POST!) #8
Hi everyone,
Shout out to my good friend L who celebrated 5 years sober yesterday. We met on the February 2013 class page. So proud of her!!
On my drive home from work yesterday I was in a car accident. A driver crossed the yellow lines into my lane, didn’t respond to me laying on the horn, and hit my car. He was arrested for a DUI on the spot.
I have been pretty rattled over the last 24 hours but I’m starting to settle down. I’m grateful to be ok, grateful people came out to help, and so grateful to be sober.
Love you all!!

That’s terrible, Glee! Glad you are ok and the driver was arrested. There are so many crazy’s out there in all parts of the world. When I drive for work meetings, whether it’s in the morning, afternoon or early evening home, I see them recklessly driving. Road rage too. It’s scary. Speaking g honestly, there were a few times where I could have gotten a DUI. Glad I never hurt anyone and glad I left that life behind me.
Hopefully that was a wake up call for the driver and he’ll get help.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Sonny boy’s birthday party is tomorrow so I’m a little stressed. But he has a small circle of friends, so that’s good. I think I’m prepared. Just going to nap out then have a rare second espresso beverage and go back over my things to do list, which includes the honey do list for my husband’s part.

My fellows & comrades, I'm heading off the forums for a while. I've lost either my voice or ear for SR, or both. Until we meet again, I wish you all the very best -- stay sober and be healthy and find your pillow of peace, compassion, and self-awareness.
Come back to us when you feel you can, Courage. Just a little reminder, isolation can be a real head trip for me. In my experience, I must stay connected to be at my best.
We've got about 8 inches of heavy, wet snow here this morning with a few more inches on the way today. Made it to work with no problems, just took a little bit longer to get here.
Have a great Tuesday, gang!

Courage, I did t get a chance to reply to you before you left! The party was great! I didn’t think such a small group could make that much noise. I sort of hoped they would just play Xbox quietly. But no. The beverage was wonderful. It was actually my last beverage with dairy, at least for a while. Tying dairy free for a while. Thank goodness for toasted almond coconut milk! I don’t know what to do about cheese, though. I am having withdrawals!
Hope to see you back soon, Courage.
On another note, husband and I are rewatching Game of Thrones in anticipation of the next season. I love the dialogue in season 3 when Catelyn Stark asks Lord Bolton, “don’t you drink, lord Bolton?” He says “never, my lady, dulls the senses.” I like that line. Dulls the senses. Maybe I’ll use it sometime. Hopefully the person I say it to won’t think I’m preparing an attack
