Thanks, Dee!

If I had my way, we'd do away with Daylight Saving Time. I'm an early-to-bed, early-to-rise type and it's tough trying to get to sleep with the sun shining in the summer. I've thought about boycotting DST, but I can never seem to stick to it more than a week or so.

Thanks for the new thread Dee!

It really makes no sense in the year 2018.

sg, were you writing the other day about a drinking dream? I had a nasty one last night -- I was rooting around the house I grew up in for gin, my father's ghost was doing the same thing, but neither one of us wanted to be seen by the other, and my mother's ghost was crying in bed over old photographs.

I blame it on an undigested bit of beef. I used to get horrible stomach pains when I was drinking, & medicated them with gin. Today's stomach ache I can get along with sober.

Have a good day everyone!

Thanks Gilmer. Better but still no appetite. How are you doing with nausea? Is the medicine helping?

The medicine is doing great with my nausea, I’m happy to report. When my regular stuff doesn’t cut it, the occasional small dose of Ativan does the trick.

I might be experiencing a little breakthrough depression. It's like tension I don't even feel as tense, except my body seems to be made of stone, and quite a lot more thoughts about drinking than usual. Grim mood. Anger, not blue, but negative. I expect it's just a depressive episode getting partially eased by my medications. Not going to take more meds though unless it gets much worse -- this level I can ride, and I'm trying to up my meditation and reflections on joy, instead.

sg, how are you getting along with the change in seasons -- especially since it's getting dark so early?

glee, I can't remember if you're a SAD person, too. I hope all is well. Don't let the hockey moms get under your skin.

And for you, FBL, I hope fall is beautiful this year where you are.

Gilmer, Dee!

Hope you feel all good again soon, courage

Caramel, that is hilarious!

I’d like to represent a bit of gravy in someone’s life—except I don’t want to be anybody’s acid indigestion—I’d rather be a whiff of good earthiness!

Courage, was this depression concurrent with production of the book? Is it possibly a sort of post-adrenaline letdown?

I’m glad you know better than to drink.

Depression, wrangling troubled thoughts and all, isn’t it a comfort to know that you’ve got and have continually successfully used the tools to shun drunkenness?

Alcohol only leads to greater darkness, and darkness turns out ugly and unpleasant.

Courage, my depression is actually leveling off a bit. Mine seems to hit hardest in early October when the shortening days, cooler temps, falling leaves, etc hit. I hope you can ride this through.

That's when I feel it, too.

Actually, I begin feeling it when the school buses start appearing (my middle son and I used to call them "harbingers of hell"). I began hating the end of summer after I had kids in school. I hated to see their joy end and the shackles of after school homework begin.

Then I started feeling keenly the lack of light in the evenings and late afternoons. Then I noticed that, yes, this really does seem to be a particular seasonal thing with me.

Courage

Woke up to an inch of snow on the ground this morning. Winter is coming...

The 1957 book project is entering the final editing stages. Hopefully will be off to the printer by this time next week. The Radio & Records book project is also humming along. Still a long way to go, but making some progress every day.

Have a great Friday, all!

Despite the talk of longer days being a downer, the very mention of your new snow puts a big smile on my face, FBL!

Good luck pushing out the 1957 book, and continued success with your R&R book!

FBL you're amazing! You have the flow everyone wants.

sg, I'm glad your mood has resolved. Are you a holiday celebrator? A foodie?

Yes, Gilmer, I'm surely having a reaction to getting my (little, FBL, you make me abashed) book in.

school = shackles ---- words that speak right to my heart!

Caramel -- Dickens-- I do believe that was the source of the dream. The beef I'd had for dinner that night hadn't sat well; my unconscious mind made the Scrooge association & that invited in the family ghouls!

I'm afraid I may have hurt someone's feelings today. Possibly badly. Or it could be my imagination. My judgment is all off this week. There's a lot of restless clanging on my pipes.
