Wind and wet makes 42 so cold V, I would hope your boss would understand, especially with the extra shifts you mentioned that you've been doing.

It's nice our drunken stunts are behind us. I had to do lots of work related things that weren't my favorite too V. Some were pretty miserable experiences, but I guess it took that to be able to get to the next step. Easier to feel that way in retrospect I guess.

Sorry for being grumpy...I am blaming the weather. I am not used to this. I don't think anyone in Melbourne is...

Having to work in that makes it quite reasonable to grumble about it a bit V. I've gotta say that I'm enjoying the weather here because it's about 10 degrees cooler than home and less humid.

We are getting a nice break from Mother Nature here-she owes us after we froze our butts off last winter-coldest I have ever known. How's the sightseeing going Mark? Are you going to catch a show? Check out the Frick Collection Hours and Holidays | The Frick Collection (closed Mondays)

Hi BD,

I remember y'all being under subjected to that harsh winter that seemed to never let up....and Arbor having to work out in it. I thought of that with V's post.

Well my feet hurt BD if that tells you how the site seeing is going ! We are covering some ground. I really enjoyed walking across the Brooklyn bridge and exploring over there a bit. We took the Staten Island ferry and enjoyed the view of lady liberty. I think the girls are about to go shopping. I'll happily stay here and hold down the fort. We'll see 'Wicked' Tuesday.

We want to dedicate a day to Central Park area and get into the museums a bit. I saw that the Frick collection is in that area.

Well, I tried...and I failed. The cold wind was whipping in my face while it rained lightly. I just couldn't do it.

Good morning and happy Monday gang!

I saw a quote on another thread that I liked and I think applies in a special way to folks like us. "Sure I am of this, that you have only to endure to conquer" Winston Churchill. To my simple mind that means hang in there and it'll work out for you.

Hang in there Briar. Hope your walk went well and that today is a turning point for you. And V, I hope you are resting cozy under that warm blanket.

All the best to the rest of the team.....

Nah....way too early to be resting.
I don't know about the Churchill quote...same thread as you Mark, so I saw it as well. I'm not sure that saying is my cup of tea...
(and the electric blanket goes underneath me, and has 8 control points, and multiple heat settings, and a timer...my sister is pretty up-market! ).

I believe life is way more than endurance. We can create our own destinies. (which is the quote I posted today in the 24-hour club).

Anyway...love to all of you. And thank you BD!!!! I feel empowered.

I guess quotes ring differently to people. I quite like it. To me it means that a worthy goal likely will involve times that may be tough, but a necessary step in creating the destiny you referenced. I think life is way more than endurance too....and thank goodness for that right!

Hope you're warming up down there V!

You know Mark, I used to be a big people pleaser...I was afraid of putting my own view forward....what if someone I cared for no longer approved of me?

It's awesome not to feel that way anymore...and beyond awesome to know that we love each other here, truly, and can still have different opinions. That's huge for me. ♥

I'm toasty here...

Hope you are having a wonderful time...and that today is a fantastic adventure in NYC!! ♥♥♥

Are you still planning to meet up with courage?

I read it the same way you do Mark.

I like Churchill - he endured a lot.

to me he's saying we to have to be there at the finish line to get the spoils, as it were, so I don't think it's diametrically opposed to V's view about creating destiny either

Glad you got it all done V.

Thanks V, not sure of today's agenda. They often start planning it after I'm asleep. They are all still snoozing, but I'm gonna head down to the gym and then come back and wake them up by cooking breakfast. The smell of bacon gets them every time.

Edit to add that there were some fascinating characters involved in the wwII era Dee. I like reading through some of the back stories on their lives.

Good morning all! I'm off to vacation bible school. Eeeeek! So glad it's finally here, but I gotta admit I'm a little nervous. And my co-teacher backed out... Hmmm... It'll be an experience to remember, right? Lol

I was just reading something about endurance. The author made a powerful point... If you're "going through" something, be thankful. It means you're not stuck.

Ain't that the truth?!

Sounds like great times, Mark and Phoebe.
Glad you're warmed up, Venus. Way to knock out the work in those conditions. Brrrrrrr
Hugs to each of you
