Class of March 2013 Part 39
I know you know what to do...lots of water, and good nutrition now.
And maybe reading up on relapse prevention is a good idea.
Sending you love and hugs.
Really nice to see you too North.
How goes the teaching job? Is it getting less scary...are the inmates being nice to you?
Are they interested in the class? Answer whenever you like...I have to go and see dad anyway.
Although I am so tired I shouldn't be driving....

I got drunk we stay sober
"stupid, stupid, stupid"
My disease tells me, "that was stupid" after it gave me the craving to do the stupid thing.
I am 83 years old and living sober for almost 29 years, but we have the same illness. You are just like me.
Welcome back, and thank you for helping to keep me sober today.
Thanks, Marchers. I'm up. Had some powerade, grits, and even coffee. Miraculous after not keeping water down yesterday afternoon. Today's goal is to get re-hydrated. I'm parched.
How's everyone else?
How's everyone else?
Just remember not to drink too much coffee right now trach, as that dehydrates as well.
So glad to hear you are doing better.
And yes Gilmer, as you can see, I am home safely.
I ended up getting extra work from my insane boss so I have walked for 3 mornings in a row...more than 9 hours in total. It was a challenge.
And I saw my doctor today and started on an anti-depressant, so that's good.
And my dad is doing better again. Which is a huge surprise. He keeps bouncing back against all odds.
And I have wonderful friends who are helping me. And that is just the greatest blessing.
Heading for bed.
Love and goodnight (and good morning) to everyone. ♥

Good morning, Marchers!
Happy to see many of us here. Trachy, glad your absence was brief. Water, water and more water.
Gilmer, so nice that you are feeling content this morning. :-)
V, good to see you posting again. I hope the anti-D's work for you. They didn't "solve" my problems but they do help and make it easier for me to get out and stay active and that becomes a virtuous cycle.
Budd, hope you got home ok last night!
North, yes - hoe is your class going?
Babs, you've been sounding solid.
Marcher, hope you're well :-)
1Day, I get a great deal out of your thoughtful posts. Glad you are here with us.
Grtgrandpa, nice to see you again :-). It's good to see someone who has been sober that long!
We, Shoes, and Toots, it's always lovely when I see your posts!
Dee, how are you doing?
I'm sure I missed some but my wishes and thoughts are no less warm.
I found out yesterday that a dear friend from my first thread on SR relapsed over Christmas but she is back and determined. Addiction is surely a difficult beast to banish. I think that when we get a bit complacent whether after a week, month, year and even many years, it can so easily bite us again. Perhaps it's a bit like falling? We fall again and again and we learn how to stay upright and also we learn to get right back up when we do fall.

Marcher, thanks for posting links to mobilize Team Marcher when one of our own needs back-up! I feel like we’re all members of the Justice League.
Trach, hoping today finds you well.
Gilmer, hope the content feeling lasts a nice long time.
Ken, the accident you described is why we decided to leave the Keys the night before our flight, so we wouldn’t get stuck on the only road out of town.
Safe journey, Babs.
1Day, congrats again on your benchmark and thanks for your post.
Toots, you doing okay or still “meh”?
VC, it is always good to hear from you and your Dad’s journey has been pretty incredible. Glad to hear you’re being proactive and have good friends for support.
Dee, wonderful to have you back.
We, Shoes, DD, MeSo, how is life treating you?
Sass-a-frass, glad to hear your friend is back and determined. We fall but we do get up.
Thanks for asking about the prison gig, VC and Sass. Last night was week 3 in the big house, the hoosegow, da joint, Penn State, up the river, etc. etc. I am desensitized to the setting and not afraid or nervous when I go in. The guys are very engaged after something of a slow start, and my problem now is just how much they are writing (and of course wanting me to read and comment on everything they have written).
I do think about the victims’ families and wonder what they would make of me, teaching the men who stole the lives of their loved ones. In all honesty, I am grateful some of these guys will never see the outside of a prison ever again. At the same time, many were under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs when they did what they did, and I shouldn’t be so smug as to believe that I could never have ended up in prison if I kept drinking. So many of these guys would give anything to change just a few moments of their pasts.
