today is dignity day for those with dementia.
I wrote this for the dementia alliance, and just wanted to share the insight.
How I perceive being trapped y dementia:

HEAR my SPEAK

It’s a frightening world.
No-one speaks my speak,
Yet speak I do; even scream.

What is it you hear-
Or indeed, don’t hear?
My future, it feels so bleak.

I’m a soul you know;
Tortured, You say,
Tortured, I say, or unheard?

For I do speak to you,
But you don’t speak my speak;
It doesn’t mean I have nothing to say.

So please listen to me
When I say my words,
The language may not be the same;

But I’m talking to you
In the way I know how;
Listen; HEAR what I say.

be grateful for every little things peeps x

Thanks Pink! I love your hair and you look so healthy and happy! Hang in there with the the writing. You have so much going on yet you still baked all those treats the other day - amazing!

That is really cool that you saw seven owls in one day. They are a good sign, means a good change will be coming into your life.

I am sorry I have been out of touch. It is good to be back.

Keep on keeping on! You are doing so great!

BBF great to see you too!

ScooterBoo - thanks for reaching out to me with the PM's - made a huge difference

London - glad you bought yourself a new jacket! Stay warm!

We got slammed with a huge blizzard yesterday. I live 5 minutes from Lake Michigan so we also had lake effect snow here for a total of about 2 feet of snow. On top of that winds were about 60-80 mph. I have never seen anything like this! Schools were cancelled again for the second time this quarter. Trying to stay cozy and treat myself to good food and Netflix. I am grateful I had plenty of food in the house as it was impossible to go anywhere the last day and a half. I wish I would have had some good hot cocoa though!

Good to be back TeamAugust!

that's great insight, my grandma went thru it when she was still with us, and I bet she felt exactly what you wrote early on when she was beginning to forget things, but really could still have a conversation, we just tried spending as much time with her as we could, right til the end

Greetings!

Grateful, I am pleased to see you posting regularly again.

Pink, your poem is beautiful, and I think it could represent others, not just those suffering from dementia, but those with Downs Syndrome, those in wheelchairs, etc.

I did not do the walk/jog today because of this weather. Today's storm seemed almost as bad as last Tuesday's blizzard. It has snowed, hailed, rained, snowed, stopped, and snowed again since around midnight. I spent the day clearing the walkway four times, watching tv and going through bins in my garage. I will not drive in this.

Have a good evening everyone.

Hey all

Good morning from the UK

Well finally London has some decent snow! Nothing like you guys stateside have, just a covering with more snow this morning, but it looks quite beautiful. I am travelling into work early so I can see it before most of the City. I wish I could say London is just like the winter paintings or tv xmas specials with snow everywhere each winter, but really it's not. Quite rare for us so I am enjoying the view. My new jacket rocks!

Hoping everyone is doing well. Grateful it's so good to see you!

It sounds like everyone did a great job for the Super Bowl which is superb.

Pink - good luck with the words. Your writing on dementia was special.

Keep checking in guys - we have got this.

Work is a tough day of meetings today so having downtime tonight after CBT which I am really looking forward to :-)

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is smiling on this lovely gift of a day.

Pink, boy you hit home with your post.

Remember to stop and consider this today;

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be accomplished without hope and confidence." Hellen Keller.

Unbroken.

Good morning,

There are some great posts this morning!

Rah, it sounds like you've got this great feeling back again! Good for you. When you reach the point where you love the feeling of sobriety, I think it makes it so, so much easier to stay sober.

Determined, another great post.

There is school today; I am assuming the roads aren't as bad as they have been. I am going to venture out to the Y later this morning and do the dreaded walk/jog. I have eaten so much fudge that I am packaging the rest and leaving it in the coffee lounge at the Y.

Pink, the peanutbutter fudge is simple to make and delicious.
Put a cup of pb and a jar of Marshmallow fluff in a large bowl.
Bring 3/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup evaporated milk and 3 cups sugar to a boil, and keep it at a rolling boil for 6 minutes, stir frequently - - poor it over the pb and marshmallow, stir with a wooden spoon until blended, and pour into a buttered 9x11 pan - cool.

The chocolate fudge recipe is on the fluff jar.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi all, got through tough wkend sober and am on day 5 today, feeling low today, went to a good step2 meeting yesterday and felt good but today I had planned to get to another meeting but the guy that offered me a lift crashed on way- nothing serious and no-one harmed but we didn't make meeting so had a coffee at his instead, had a good chat.

Felt a wave of desperation and depression at my situation in life come over me on way home and felt like I couldn't breathe, got home ok and am still sober but its a real struggle at the moment, the more feelings I get back and the clearer my brain gets the more I realise what a fool Ive been....

No shame in turning it around, 1 step! It gets better but there is just no getting around the hard stuff. Please be kind to yourself. Proud of you!

I've been sick the past couple of days-I'll check in when I stop sleeping so much.

Choobie, sorry to hear you have been sick; I hope you get better quickly.

1Step, Choobie is right. You will get through these early tough days. You need to feel proud of your sobriety and stop worrying about the past. I know that is much easier said than done, but you need to try.

Hello everyone just checking in tonight. The last two days have been crazy at work. Went to the gay meeting last night. There were some new faces which is nice cuz it's a smaller meeting. It's funny..even at the gay meetings I tend to talk to mostly females and get their numbers. :P Hope everyone has a FAB Hump day tomorrow/today. xo
