Sounds dreadful, Saskia. We take normal for granted until it's gone - at which time we gain a whole new appreciation for normal.

Too bad someone hasn't invented a bed kitchen yet....

Welcome, Della!

I like the bed kitchen idea--or the couch kitchen. Too bad they can't stretch technology enough to have a voice-activated kitchen. Robots could move the pots and pans and open the fridge!

Oh a couch kitchen!!! Why didn't I think of that!!

Good day so far, no work, slept in, woke up and went for a swedish massage courtesy of boyfriend!
Now I'm going to clean up my house, hang around here, go to AA, then restorative yoga.
A very nice day!
Hope everyone is doing well xoxo

Welcome jsbodhi and Della! It's nice to have you join our conversation. How long have you been sober? What's working for you?

I wish my kitchen was big enough for a couch, it that I had an open concept floor plan. I have to settle for a pass through in the wall between the kitchen and dining room. It does the trick! Today on my day off from work I make a few meals for the week - taco filling for the kids, meatballs and sauce, and a crockpot pork ragu. I also made a healthified version of a peanut butter chocolate chip cake.

It's nice to get back to cooking and cleaning again. I'm not much of a clean freak, but I do like to cook. For a while though I was hurting pretty badly, and couldn't motivate myself to do much beyond the bare minimum. Some people become sober and hit the ground running, others don't. I didn't. But I kept at yet, and slowly my body and my emotions caught up. If you're struggling today, I urge you to keep moving forward. Life will improve if you're sober. If you're drinking or stuck in addiction, it doesn't stand a chance. We're all here to lend an ear and a soft place for each other to land while we work through the issues surrounding our recovery from addiction and celebrate each other's victories.

Have a nice day Undies!

I've seen breaking bad! I heard house of cards is very good too, and I have a huge crush on Kevin Spacey. Seems like a good idea

Hi! Thanks for the welcome!

I'm newly sober, started at the end of Nov, had a couple relapses in dec ( so I'm a member of nov and dec class....) but have been doing really well since, I am enjoying being sober a lot.
What works is when I acknowledge how much I wasting my life.
I'm a person that loves people and hobbies, like painting, cooking, hiking, travel, writing etc. I'm in school and have a little business that pays my tuition.
But the last few months all I do is drink, no more hobbies, grades slipping, business slipping because of my weekly wine binges. Started blacking out too and acting like a creature from the undead.... That was awesome for everyone else I'm sure.... luckily I don't remember a thing!!!! Just kidding, bad joke
I love life, but I wasn't anymore, I want to be me again.

What also works is AA, I'm not religious, so I struggle with that part a bit, but I'm making it work
I do yoga, and am back at my hobbies. Each sober day is like a relief.

I'm glad to hear you're getting back in the swing of things! You're food sounds so fantastic!!
Xoxo

Jsbodhi nothing on Netflix that I was real into. I kinda use it to waste time. I've gotten into that tv show the following tho and watch a lot of the surf documentaries and some music ones.

Been super lazy today Latin around but did get some laundry done and the dishes. Gotta get ready for that concert soon. It sold out so I'm expecting it's gonna be packed. First time seeing the band sober. When I first saw them about 11 years ago I was wasted and don't remember much.
