Glad you had a good experience Minion, let me know how thing progress for you , I have been debating AA meetings or trying one on one counseling.

Kell, sounds like you have a plan in the works, stay strong!

Anewpage, I read failure only occurs when you stop trying to succeed, keep on fighting , on to day 2 for you!

Welcome to all the newcomers.
Thanks badger! I will definitely keep you all in the loop. Also been to a church based group similar to AA. Can honestly say that I felt extremely welcomed...in the mission statement it says where broken people come, find acceptance and grow... love it! I know it doesn't work for all of us, but for me I am feeling cared for, accepted for who I am and being given tools to work through my depraved mind, so I am embracing it for what it is. Love u all!

Well done a new page. 24 hours. I am wearing a favourite necklace to remind me I am sober and staying that way. No fell into the trap of thinking too far ahead today and felt down and defeated. I have forgotten how to laugh I think. Anyway I am thinking of going back to a meditation class at a local Buddhist centre.

I can't answer that question for you BigC but if you're already sober into day 4 and if you feel ok I'd have to wonder what you want or think you'll get from detox?

It's not rehab it's just detox, right?

Yeah that's what I thought.

If you feel you don't need detox then there's your answer I guess

Thanks Dee. Finally hit rock bottom this time, I felt I had given in. Depression quite bad just now. Need to try throwing everything at this. Family are being supportive.

I was starting to feel the urge this afternoon,
while sitting in my room. I had to get out.
I went to Wally world, and I don't even
like to go there (well maybe to check out
automotive and tools).

It Worked!

I calculated that I have saved well over
$200.00 over the past three weeks by
staying sober.

Day eight here! Feeling a bit antsy but not remotely tempted by the demon booze!

As some of you may have read my dad was rushed into hospital the night before last. He is not in danger it turns out, but visiting hours clash with AA meeting times. So I will have to forgo the meetings for a couple of days at least. I've arranged to meet an AA buddy for a coffee this afternoon by way of compensation, so hopefully that will help.

Onwards!

No chance of early morning meetings, or late night ones mentium?

Not that I'm pushing AA specifically - and I understand your need to be with your dad...
but I also know how good I am at finding reasons not to do things I really should?

remember your own needs too

I do actually want to go to meetings Dee. Some people may find it surprising but I really enjoy them. But I live in a small city - more of a large town by USA standards and there are four evening meetings here a week. There is one mid-day meeting on a Wednesday which is open to professional people (it takes place in an addiction centre) and I have always avoided it because I know some of the people I used to work with might attend. That is the only alternative. I might bite the bullet and go this Wednesday though.

I do have a good few AA buddies now so other support is also available.
