Hello!! I quit on the 16th! :) and I'm so happy right now..! Haven't felt this good in a long, long time...

Day 3. Did not sleep much last night.

The more support you have the better I think.

There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - here's some links to some of the main players, including but by no means limited to AA:

I especially recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach.

I used SR myself - the support here is amazing, so keep posting here as much as you need to, too.

I never imagined I could be sober...7 years on I can't imagine drinking again :)

Day 8... think I may be getting a cold...ughhh! Thats when I like my blackberry brandy....focus!

My elderly dad (87) was rushed into hospital overnight with internal bleeding in the stomach. Just off to visit him shortly. Not sure how serious it is at this point, but it is the latest in a long list of ailments, so it doesn't look hugely encouraging.

If things are or get serious it will not be something to drink over. That is a promise!

Day 11. The one that always gets me.

I have way too much to do at work tomorrow to fail today. Hoping that helps motivate me. Feels like I'm going to make it through today.

Today i quit for last time. Went to market but dedent even enter to alcohol section.

Day 5. Feel a little better.

It's Day 2 for. I feel so good today... and the weather is beautiful. The birds are signing. I like being conscious in the present.

Here I am. Day 1. Determined.

Well done anewpage onwards and upwards. Day 10 here, finally in double digits! Very irritable and angry the last two days. Still haven't wanted to drink so that's something.

15 days for me. Longest I've been sober since I was 16 is a little over a month. Feeling good, just tired all the time. Enjoying feeling alive again.

In for the may class. I think this is the time sobriety might really happen for me. Im feeling a lot different. Not cocky or overly confident but sure of the importance and possible consequences to drinking again.

I know that time takes time. Just moving through day 3 and eating some good food.

Thanks for the kind thoughts people. Turns out he has a bleeding stomach ulcer. No real danger but pretty unpleasant. Lost a of of blood but he doesn't seem to be in danger. Relief all round!
