Class of May 2014 Part 2
Good morning all. A busy day yesterday so I only posted a couple of times. Life is a bit calmer today. Feeling pretty good at two weeks I must say.
Went to an AA meeting last night and once again was moved as to how different one can feel to another. Its an odd thing. I am not remotely superstitious but sometimes it does feel as if there is inspiration in the room! People can of course inspire one another!

Nice work BigC and everyone else. I have now made it 21 days and am feeling pretty good. I've had my shaky moments and close calls but I've found there is a power in waking up the next day after not drinking that goes beyond just the wonderful feeling of not being hung over and the guilt that goes along with it. It is some kind of feeling of accomplishment, but that is not the exact word I am searching for. Even though I can't describe it precisely, I will enjoy it for as long as I can!

I couldnt agree more... we are all in this together and while are milestones are each of ours individually, they are ours together as we support and pull eachmother through. I am beyond thankful for SR and meetkng all of you. Keep up the battle and keep sharing as it encourages me daily as I am sure it does all of you! On to 15 today...whoop whoop!
Welcome flakey! We r all here to support u, so keep coming back and share with us. Tossing you a lifevest to assure you we are all wearing them and we welcome you on the voyage! Some waves are bumpy along the way, but the storms pass and bring blue skies.
Just checking in. Day 8 and although I've had some cravings, nothing strong enough to make me actually drink!
I've worked out a few triggers for me too. Pink lemonade (because I used to slip vodka in it) and doing yard work. Well, I can't avoid the yard work like I can avoid pink lemonade, but I'm toughing it out anyway. SOber and strong.

Yay! I'm so grateful to check in on a Sunday morning with no hangover! I am grateful to have all your stories to read too. They help so much. We can do this!
I have a lot to accomplish today and I seem to have the energy. Phew!
Have a great day. :-)

Made it to day 5 and finally sleeping a little better. A bit jittery but happy to be clear headed on a Sun morning too. Also grateful not to have scheduled any Mem Day picnics or parties since it would present too much temptation this early on. Keeping busy and checking in to this website a few times a day keep me motivated not to drink.

My AV is getting to me today. It's telling me the usual lies... you can have just one drink.. it's not fair that others get to drink and you don't... do you really expect to go the rest of your life without a drink? etc
It's wearing me down. My mouth is watering, thinking about alcohol.

. it's not fair that others get to drink and you don't...
I actually think it's perfectly fair I don't drink anymore tho - I drank my share and several other peoples as well
I love who I am and I love my life.
From someone who hated himself and life for 20 years, thats a pretty good tradeoff.
I think I got a good deal.

If you want change, you need to make change and embrace different decisions.
It's not easy, but it's so worth it.
If you want some craving tips look back at that link I posted last time?
I believe you can do this - it's not comfortable but it is achievable.
It gets easier.
Stay true
