@topspin, It's actually feeling pretty good, considering I went for it and did shoulders today for my inaugural workout. Figured if I don't hurt myself doing that I should be fine with anything else. The rehab stuff I've been doing seems to be working - it's stuff like band pull-aparts, band dislocates, external DB rotations, scapular pushups, all those boring exercises nobody does until they have to.

Ask me tomorrow and I might give a different answer. Might involve some seriously bad words too, depending how sore I am.

Happy Friday all!

Hope everyone's hanging in there. ST, sounds like you're having a rough day. You've had rough days before and you pulled through just fine, remember that Feeling bad is part of life, and we just have a little (or a lot) less practice at waiting it out. But for me, the pride I feel when I do wait it out without using is worth it, plus the added bonus of not having to start over and feeling down on myself for that too. I think that drinking to numb feelings is like taking a loan from a loan shark. You get the cash to cover that day, but the next day you owe the amount you took plus an exorbitant amount of interest.

It's amazing how much clearer I can see my drinking life from just 3 weeks' perspective. Yet I still batted about the idea of drinking tonight for awhile today. I've heard a lot of people say that those urges went away when they decided drinking is no longer an option. I've decided that, but it's still a two-sided conversation in my head. The logical side of my brain is louder now than it has been, but I still can't wait for the other side to hit the road permanently.

It's freaking hot here, and I've told myself that 3 weeks of overloading on ice cream is quite enough. Going to take a cool shower, and settle in for the evening. Hope everyone has a great night!

Initially when I woke up I had the dreaded feeling of "Oh crap why did I post that" that normally comes the day after mixing alcohol and Facebook. But I'm glad I was open and honest. Thank you everyone for the support! I haven't had time yet to read the whole thread.
Topspin that article is very helpful and I am definitely going to try those techniques. I appreciate you sharing with me.

Well something cool happened. I keep having dreams about washing dishes. Last night was the 3rd time in the past couple of weeks so I decided to google the interpretation :

"To dream of washing dishes represents moving on or planning for the next phase of your life. You are finishing up with something or completely getting rid of certain beliefs you had"

Maybe my subconscious mind isn't out to sabotage me after all

At a birthday dinner. Will come back later and review the thread but everyone is doing sake bombs and is talking about their greatest drinking moments as of the past 15 min. This is super hard on day four of sobriety. White knuckling my green tea.

The check is coming in a sec and then I'm running home! I'm really in no mood to drink but this atmosphere is really stressing me out. Lots of "remember that fun time when you were drunk" and offering me drinks that I keep turning down. Time to go!

I second obosob! Drink that green tea like no tomorrow. Play out the whole night as everyone says. You will be so proud tomorrow if you abstain. Stay strong!
