Happy Holidays eveyone! Hman, glad to meet you, I was an expat myself for a long time in a land rife with alcoholism (Korea) so I think I can relate.

The thing about having (a little) time is remembering to stay humble. It's not like being here for awhile means we gotta be tough guys/gals. Sometimes I still need to reach out. It's nice to hear people answer back.

I'm not immersed in alcoholic culture here (India), though it definitely does exist. For me it's about relating though. I feel safer walking into a fall-down-drunk bar when I have my support group close by than to be in a dry country without a soul to reach out to.

I feel that.

Truthfully, my pain tolerance is so much lower these days: Sometimes i need people more now then I did when I was brand new.

Hope you all had a great holiday and are getting ready for another new year sober.

Hey folks. Good to see y'all so busy here. Sorry for my previous rant. The last few months have been pretty hard for me and I have to say I think a lot of it is due to lack of exercise. That has always been something that helps keep my head straight, but I just let it go for a while. Just a few weeks back to the gym and I am feeling a lot better. I posted on the main thread about a friend we lost today. Insane and sad.

Be well. Congratulation to everyone still fighting the fight. After seeing this friend go, seriously just impressed my anyone working to even get a day under their belt.

Thanks for the check in VR, I know some were starting to get a little worried.

I was reading an article linked on the sidebar here about a guy, Jason...something, former reality star whose cleanded himself up. Not all that remarkable of a story, but he had a great quote, something like "Life has ups and downs, but always remember, if you're clean and sober, you're doing just fine".

I hear you about exercise. The past couple months I kind of let myself go a bit. New Year's Resolution was to get back on the horse. In that vain, here's a link from my new favourite show, which speaks volumes to how I try to go about my life now.

Hey VR, good to see you. I can't remember your rant and I am too lazy to go searching for it!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Well, I was just looking over how many "parts" the various class threads have, and November 2012 is at the bottom of the list. So for 2016, I commit to read and post here more.

I'm on vacation, off work for three weeks, going to cut firewood in the State Park today...

I guess April 2012 has only two parts, so we're not the worst.

My mother passed away recently. We did not have the best of relationships, but I felt at peace with her in the past couple years. Anyway, now my brother is working on selling her property on Maui, and then I will need to figure out what to do with a chunk of money.

Sorry to hear that CF.

Hope everyone is doing well. 8.5 months until I am a married sober man!

Hard to believe what a difference a few 24's can make.

Buried in snow and I had the realization that drugs and alcohol make shoveling WAY more fun!!!! Sober shoveling sucks!

Day off today--I've always worked in customer service, and usually work weekends.

Just sitting here with my coffee and my cats. Glad to be sober--there's lots of folks struggling right now, but it's good to see a few (at my meetings and here on SoberRecovery) finally climb out of the hole.

Always good to see people coming around CF!

Sometimes I wish I could just tell them that the secret to sobriety is not picking up!

Did I scare everyone away?

I wish I was able to provide exercise inspiration, but alas this former marathon runner suffers from sore feet. I do have a fairly physical job, though--but my sponsor tells me this doesn't count as exercise.

I need the help of others to stay sober, and contributing to this thread is a part of my efforts. While I spend a lot of time here at SoberRecovery, I have rarely kept up with an on-going thread.

I have the day off today--I am head housekeeper at a hotel, and usually work weekends. I am hoping the weather and the economy perk up, so we have a busy spring.

Happy leap year day! This probably used to be an excuse to drink...

Hi everyone...just a check-in to say hello. I don't have a computer at home right now and I hate typing on my phone but it's great to see everyone. I'm sorry about your mom, ColdFusion.

The year has been a mixed bag but things are really getting better as time passes. The weather is finally getting better to go out and walk so that exercise has really helped me.

Take care.

Hi Dee and everyone...It's amazing to me what spring and warmer weather does for my mood. I feel so much better. It's been a really great March so far. Hope things are going well for everyone too.
