Class of September 2013 - Part 28
I've found that I tend to do well in social situations, and then when everyone goes HOME, I am tempted. It's the same way with food. I can eat all healthy and make wonderful choices during a big social gathering, then when I get on my own it's almost like I want to reward myself for being so good.
Since I recognize it (and it's a pretty common phenomenon I've found in working with thousands of others), I have started planning a reward of some sort for AFTER events. So, taking it back to sobriety, after getting through a gathering like that I might
* get a manicure
* have bought a cool book and saved it to enjoy just then
* watch my favorite movie or show
* buy myself something small, like a new pair of earrings or a pretty bouquet of daisies or some nice-smelling lotion
That seems to satisfy my desire for reward, but in a healthier way.
Just a thought.
Thanks for all the LOVE!

Hitting the sack now, so I don't end up too tired tomorrow. THAT'S asking for trouble. I've found that lack of sleep getting the AV talking.
I read your response (and there's no need to apologize ... peanut butter is still involved, right?) and then your tag line ...
"It's never too late to be who you might have been" ... I might have been PBJ! Ha ha!
I got my 6 month coin today and tons of hugs. I love my AA group!
My birthday is Wednesday, so I'm making treats tonight to bring to my meeting. I bought the big pretzel rods, and I'll drizzle them with one of 3 chocolates:
* minty milk chocolate, sprinkled with green sugar
* orange-infused dark chocolate, sprinkled with orange sugar
* white chocolate with coconut flavoring
Tonight, for St. Patty's Day, I'm making a creamy potato/ham casserole and serving it with a minty green salad. Yum!
Are any of you doing anything for the holiday? I wore my kelly green blazer to work today, too.
<-- why are there no St. Patty's Day cartoons? This was the closest I could find.

Happy St Patricks day from Northern Ireland
May God always grant you a sunbeam to warm you
A moonbeam to charm you
A sheltering angel so nothing can harm you
Laughter to cheer you
Faithful friends near you
and whenever you pray heaven to hear you

This made me laugh!
Hi everyone!
I picked up two 4:30AM shifts this week. I have finally gotten to the point where I have the energy to work out after work, which I did today!
So excited to be working out again!
I took a major nap today after work/working out and ate healthy this AM but when I woke up I ordered some fried plantains with mozzarella cheese on top from this really good Dominican restaurant!
I regret ordering them. I was half asleep and whenever I'm really sleepy my food cravings get the best of me.
Oh well, live and learn!

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Irish-American(I am half, hubby 100%) family here. We had our corned beef dinner last week, on a night simply because I got all the fixings on sale and needed to cook the cabbage while it was nice an fresh. We do not do anything very elaborate to celebrate. Wished one another a happy day, wore green.
Lommey, Happy St. Partick's Day to you!
4:30 am, Brooksie. Yowza. Now there is something you can only do sober!! I get hungry when I work out. Ice cream is my sownfall, but it is a very good thing I do not live in a city where I am steps away from good takeout food everyday!

~~Food For Thought ~ Monday Late Edition~~
~~The Art of Acceptance~~
To move forward in life you must first accept the reality of what it is. To wish that things were different, or to pretend that they are, gets you nowhere. Today you have all the possibilities in front of you to move in the direction of your dreams.
Radical Acceptance says that life works better when you accept people for who they are, without judgment. Once you have done that you can then act accordingly. What does that mean? How many of us see, not the person in front of us, but the person we expect to see. Then we act as if they are how we expect to see them. And, sure enough, we come to grief.
Come to know them through their actions, accept without judgment and act accordingly. If the other is a controlling person, then I know I will either need to let go my need for control or be prepared for a battle of wills. If the other is chronically late, then need to invite them early to events, be prepared to start without them or wait. In any case, to get upset is to pretend they are someone different.
~Postscript~
''I started to discover the meaning of happiness when I started to discover--and practice--the art of acceptance. When I started to accept life for what it was and I started to accept whatever situation I was in as the way things were, I started to see that my happiness depended on my own attitude. When I started focusing on getting the most out of my life the way it was rather than trying to turn it into what I thought it should be, I started to realize that I was, indeed, becoming a much happier person.''

Hey Renarde
Not really, I've just had a string of interviews over the last few days. For an introvert like me, these interviews suck away all my life force. I feel completely drained after each interview, its worse than running a half marathon !
Anyway, I did a nasty run to recuperate. Starting to feel again....

Have a lovely St Patricks day as well Lommey !! May Green Tara bestow her blessings upon you !
