My brother died today
(((Jenny))) What a gift you were to him... and he to you. You had a whole year of the real guy, a golden bit of time.
My heart breaks for the loss you and your parents are enduring. One of the saddest/best realizations I've brought out of some of deepest grief... we get better. Our wounds heal and we remember them at their best... as it should be.
Your brother can rest, now. He can have the peace he sought. You are in my heart and on my mind tonight. Please know there are many of us praying for you and for Paul.
Your words are beautiful... perfect.
((hugs))

Jenny,
I am so sorry about the death of your brother.
The words you wrote for the eulogy are beautiful and indicate the depth of your love for your brother along with your understanding of his addiction. I am so sorry the disease took him from this earth, but please know he suffers no more.
Hugs and prayers for you and your family,

Jenny,
I'm so very sorry to hear of your and your parent's most horrible loss. I believe that you are probably right about his body not being able to take the same amount of the drug that he was used to taking the year before. I've heard of this happening before. Your family sounds like mine. We are all close like you've described. My son is the addict in our life and he has one sister and they are so close. He is 31 and adores his niece and nephew. My husband and I love him so much and we try to be there for him as much as we can without enabling, I hope. We've almost lost him to drugs and alcohol several times. We've just not gone ahead and crossed that line, as of yet, anyway. I guess that I'm telling you all of this to let you know that I can understand the depth of what you are going through up to a point. It would be pretty much the same scenario for us. In our case also, our daughter would be the best one to deliver the eulogy for her brother, because they are also best friends. But it takes alot of strength to be able to do that, so I'm very impressed with your strength and your unselfish and giving courage. Your parents are very blest to have a daughter like you and it seems that your brother was very blest to have you for his sister. I also feel deep sympathy for his niece and nephews, because they have sustained such a great loss that they can't possibly understand. I'm so sad that you have to deal with their great greif as well. Your words about your brother are beautiful. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I really hope that you'll consider coming back here often for the support and uplifting encouragement that you will surely need in the coming weeks and months.

(((Jenny))) My heart breaks every time we lose someone to addiction.
Your love for your brother shines through in your post and your eulogy is a wonderful tribute to his life and those whose lives he touched.
I believe God loves all His children, including His addict children. Sometimes He loves them enough to take them home to suffer no more.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family over the next few days. Please know that we are here for you, to support you and walk with you through this painful time.
God bless you and your family.

My deepest condolences...
Through your words I feel that I've glimpsed the beautiful person that was your brother
your words bring dignity and respect to all who suffer this terrible disease
I believe you are correct about the accidental overdose...the same almost happened to my son...an overdose that required paramedics to revive after a long period of abstinence...I've heard it too many times....
you and your parents are in my prayers

Jenny,
My heart breaks for Paul's lost life, for you, and your family.
I can't fathom the pain your parents are going through.
I had an older brother die when I was only 13. He was 22 and
died from an accidental drowning. Yet he had been an excellent swimmer.
We could only conclude that it was the drugs that took him under.
He had been awake for 3 days straight, the story goes.
Tweaked out and supposedly running from something. Straight into the
Licking River. (We're here in the river valley)
My mother was never the same. She drank herself to death, imho.
I had another older brother who was an alcoholic and died from a
heart attack.
It is definitely rampant in my family.
I'm just heartsick over your loss and wanted to add my prayers to you, your family, and Paul's soul. May he rest in eternal peace.
God Bless you, all.
Linda
