Hooray for updates!
I am so happy for everyone.

ItsMeAlice - that's especially awesome. Hooray! I'll bet you can't wait!

I set three goals, I only intended to work on one this year, and thus far, I have only been working on one, but at the rate I am going, I can start on them early.

Of the high-interest loans, I'm halfway there! One I get the other half done, I can take my time, because the interest is extremely low, and most of it is actually payable to myself and my retirement plan.

Next I intend to start taking that online flying course I bought and paid for five years ago, so I can line up a flight instructor next year no problem. (Hopefully I can still get in. *Grins*)

Late to the thread, but here are my goals:

1) Get back to a daily spiritual practice, meditation, etc.

2) Get back onstage and play and sing some damn music again. (its been awhile...and Shellcrusher, I am a 20 year professional musician, those fingers only hurt when you DONT play, after awhile. Its a common joke among musicians."I ve lost my callouses, tonights going to be a tough show.."

3) Get back to the book I strated writing, and then got away from when RAH came home. It was as if my creative output and his selfishness could not coexist..LOL

4) Be the best mom I can be, and regain the trust and affection of my 6 year old, after putting him through the unpredictability of RAH being here with us.

5) Quit smoking all the way! I am down to a pack lasting 3 days, on average. It is not good for me.

I am going to explore and weigh out the realistic-ness of going back to Law School.

I took a break from teaching for a year about 10 yrs ago. I got a full ride for 3 yrs to Law School in Boston. I went for a semester and left bc AH who was my bf at the time (and I didn't know he was an A) told me that he wasn't sure he'd be able to "wait around" while I finished law school and since I didn't have the flexibility to leave/move that I did as a teacher it might be hard to keep up the relationship (we were planning to get engaged that year) if he had to live elsewhere for work.

So, I dropped out of law school and returned to teaching and have regretted it since. I didn't regret marrying him but I did and do regret that I didn't stick with something I loved and take the chance that I might lose him. I chose him over me. Not wise.

Here's the new goal since I'm currently in progress on my first 1.

I am going to start a C5K plan tomorrow. I need to get some good shoes first.
The plan covers 3 jogs/week and starts off slow and builds each week.
Here's the general program for the 1st week, 1st run. (W1D1)

Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Not sure how I'll track the time but I suppose I can count it out and then measure the distance around the little track near my house.

It's a big one for me. I'm 6'2" - ~280lbs

ItsmeAlice...You're AWESOME! I loved reading your update...it was UPlifting

As for me, my "massive" goal is already started: I've begun a D.E.S.S. ("Diplôme d'étude supérieure spécialisé" or "specialized graduate diploma"). I've been waffling around for a year, wondering what to do with myself, because I'm so not happy being a legal assistant. I thought about HR management or similar business-y things, but it felt frustrating to have to "start over" when i already have a B.Ed. (bachelor's of education). So I found myself a nice 30 credit graduate diploma that can be completely totally online (there aren't a lot of these programs here in Canada).

Despite the challenge of going back to school 10 years after I graduated from university and doing graduate work IN FRENCH, I've managed to complete the first course and got myself a nifty A+. I'm now doing the second one.

Usually, such degrees can be completed within a year full-time, but seeing as I work FT and I'm a single mom to a busy toddler, I can't handle more than 1 grad course per term. My goal is to do 3 courses per year, and hopefully, in 3 years, I'll be done. After that, who knows...perhaps I can find myself some interesting job someplace that allows me to work from home part-time.

I don't see how I could handle blowing my nose let alone a grad course working FT as a single mom with a toddler. That's amazing! WOW!!

I now go to the gym daily!

The Pilates teacher said I have improved
The Zumba dance teacher told me I dance well
The Kickboxing teacher congratulated me because the others are like doing aerobics and in my mind I am imagining people I don't like much - I put a lot of intention to my moves!
The Box teacher told me I had gain strength and had improved my aim and technique.
I even went to the gym walking one day, it was like 40 minutes just going there then 2 hours of exercise then another 40 minutes to go back home.

I lost 1 kg then I gained 3 due to IBS due to stress :/

I feel weaker but my doc recommended exercise so its half an hour of work, off to eat a salad then its some box "shadow" work (moves infront of a mirror) this evening.

I am determined. For the first in my life I have abs and my upper body feels lean, defined and strong!

Exercise is cheaper than therapy and antidepressants....

Here was my goal:
Pay of debt is my biggie.
And it's definitely doable for me to be debt free by the end of the year. It will take working two jobs, but I will be able to do that AND go on vacation.

Guitar has always been a goal of mine, or buying a piano and sticking to practicing (I can play but not very well anymore and find it very meditative to play music so I highly encourage any and all musical pursuits!).

I have been 'trying' to put my own consulting business together but only got as far as getting a tax ID number. Haven't had time because of my regular work schedule.

Oh and more time in relaxing places outdoors (walking on the beach, etc).

Take a REAL vacation to somewhere out of state (I'm long past due) but gotta save up the money to do so.

(Great thread)

My goals for this year were fitness and travel.

Sooo ... first triathlon this month. Gulp. I decided at the start of the year that I wanted to get fitter. I hike regularly but needed a goal to kick things up a notch. I signed up at the start of February. This is the first time in years that I've been as consistent as this with exercise - I'm getting in 4-5 sessions a week because I'm training with a group. Even if I don't make it to the starting line (I will) I'm already sleeping better, feeling better physically, my mood is better and my focus is better. Result!

I'm also getting on a plane and going on a solo vacation over easter. I have wanted to get away for myself and by myself for more than two years but have had some sort of barrier about it. I booked the trip about a week after I signed up for the tri.

My new goals are to book another trip within six months of this one (and save for it :-) and to keep up with the exercise even after the triathlon is over.

This is a great thread! Alice I am -thrilled- that you are out of that house with the creepy grumpy guy and so glad that the universe has thrown you a bone while your dram house is coming down the pipeline. How great that your paperwork made it through? You're due!!

Setting a new MASSIVE goal...

House for me and the kids- check.

Next: finish this darn master's program. I am dragging my feet...I really didn't need to be doing this (again) but felt the opportunity was too good to pass up when I enrolled. Now I am two classes and a thesis away from finishing, and I am stalling because it is BORING! UGH! I'd rather do anything than read any more academic articles and write papers...

So this is my new massive goal. Finish. By Spring 2012.

I'm happy to see this picking up some steam.
I didn't achieve my goal this weekend of buying some shoes and starting a c5K plan.
The good news, is I'm leaving early today. I'm getting shoes at a running company that can help me get the right pair and I will be running tonight. Today is the day!

Alright!
Just got confirmation that one of my bills is completely paid off, and just send my $5.71 payment towards interest on the second one - two bills down!

Also, I am redecorating the bedroom, so that it's my decorating style, and not XABF's.
I'm keeping the Art Deco theme, but taking out the clutter.

Stay hydrated, Shell, and keep us posted on how the run goes. I am so short-strided, I run like a possum. Well, really I waddle fast like a possum.
I power walk, though, and even dabbled in a little speed walking. I found I can actually speed walk faster than I run.

Good luck tonight!!

Wow, these are fantastic!!

I started running in September, and just cleared my Massive Goal on Saturday of running a 10 mile race in under 2 hours! (I did better than 1:59, too... I got in at 1:54!!) This is huge, since I had pneumonia for a long time 3 years ago. Running partners rock!

My next goal is to get us moved into a little apartment or house in town asap. Current rents are ~US$1200. Gulp. Wish me luck!!
