Seriously, I hope the winds calm down, you get drenching rain, no floods, and the water tables rise up...

I don't want to seem like I'm complaining about the weather...one thing I know I have no control over...I do prefer our summers. So on that note it snowed yesterday and this morning is crisp, windy, clear with temps. at 19F/-7C. Nothing would get in the way of drunkenness...so the same, nothing will upset my sobriety.

Enjoy reading all of your posts....have a great day

Hoping for good news Melski.

I don't own a snowblower (yet). I am keeping my eye on the electric ones tho... I have an electric lawn mover & will never go back to gas.

Morning all, well unfortunately I learned yesterday that my job is being eliminated due to the sale/restructuring of the business unit I support.
They are giving me a decent notice and severance but still pretty stressful.
In the past I would have drank heavily over this but I did not and am not.
Only marginally tempted last night but it passed.
Now to think about next steps.
Hope you all have a great Thursday.

Sorry to hear about your job being eliminated melski. I am glad that you have a positive attitude. Things will work out for you I am certain.

Have a good day all!

Thanks wiscsober.

Melski, yeah, drinking would create at the very least, two problems--losing the job and loss of sobriety. God hasn't brought you this far for you to fall on your face. Sending positive thoughts across the bay to you.

Up at 3am.

Melski that is very stressful. I don’t like the expression “when one door closes another opens”. It’s hell in the hallway should always be added on.
I have a busy day ahead. DIL was arrested for dui yesterday. Not a surprise and life goes on but damnit!

A good Thursday to all.

Thanks for the support all.
Imvalentine, love that expression and so sorry about your DIL!
What a week.
Thankful for you all and for sobriety.

Up at 5:30am TGIF, the first week back is tough.

That's unfortunate for you and your daughter imvalentine. Hope it won't mean too much inconvenience to you. Will this be a wake up call for DIL?

Sorry about your news Melski, this is one of the best times to stay sober and sharp. Drinking would only serve to corrode your confidence and make it that much harder to move forward.

I did not take another P/T temp job that was offered before DIL’s incident due to 10 hour Saturday shift. Now it would be impossible due to available day care hours. I’m not blaming DIL but her court is the 25th and I’m sure her drivers license will be suspended as it should be. If my Gdaughter was not involved I would not be helping her in the first place. Will be asking what her plan is to stay sober now that she can think clearly. Something has to give here besides me!
Oncology appointment went well so that was a huge relief.
Going to rake the patio and putter around outside to clear my own mind today.

A safe sober Friday to all.

Very glad to hear about your doctor's appointment imvalentine.
Hope your DIL can use this experience for growth and recovery.
I am doing ok and not tempted to drink at all.
It has crossed my mind once or twice but never in a good way if you know what I mean.
Thanks for all the support and happy Friday.

Up at 4am.

Imvalentine, indeed you have a lot on your plate. My experience of being 'in the hallway' (and not reaching for anything to take away the feelings) has always led to more growth, closeness to the Higher Power and a deeper sense of gratitude.

Melski, I believe in 'getting a pass for my first thought' (no shame or guilt) But what counts is what I do with that first thought, go to my second thought, take action, do the next right thing.

Up and at 'em at 0430.
Reading posts...listening to Angie McMahon....singer.
Coffee.
Not as cold this a.m.
Eating an apple.
Ate well yesterday...but a sugary soda did me in...too much milk also. Will eat better today.

An earworm for the last few mornings is part from NA...active addictions leads us to three things, "jails, institutions, and death."

2 out of 3 so far or 2 1/2.

So recovery can be freedom, sanity, life.
Everyone have a great day...Go Badgers!

Coffee and a smoke before my day begins.
Gdaughter has a cough and cold so no daycare yesterday. It will be a long weekend babysitting. DIL is moping and feeling sorry for herself which is irritating as hell. I am tired of alcoholic disasters. Now I’ll get off my selfish rant. Life goes on thankfully.

A pleasant Saturday to all.

A happy Saturday all.
It got cold here too but certainly not Wisconsin cold!
Checking in on my retired horse today and joining a friend for hair appointments later.
Finally found a low carb, paleo/pegan friendly bread that tastes pretty good so going to get a toaster today too lol.
Launched my job search this week and no urges to drink, happy to report.
Day 148 and it feels like some new level of healing is starting.
Have a fun and safe Saturday
