5:30am

Morning, first decent sleep in a long time. Forgot to set alarm, but woke up on time anyway & didn't have to drag myself out of bed.

imvalentine - good attitude and decision.

I think I'll lay off the audiobooks when sleeping....creating nightmares. Books during a nap, but ambient sounds at night.

enjoying blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, walnuts, with yogurt.
Much better diet coming along....different when drinking and the first weeks of sobriety.

Have a great day.

I hate those crazy unsettling dreams Imvalentine. Sometimes, they affect my mood for quite a while even after getting up. I had a drinking dream last week and it made me feel guilty for a while, though it was only a dream.

Chloe, I never even heard of the Polar Vortex until a year or so ago. Climate change is really upending our weather unfortunately. I hope you see some sun. I can take cold temps if I need too, but I definitely find cold and dark soul sucking. How long will it take to complete your tablecloth?

Worked late last night, and went to bed at 2:00am. I like my new store, but do hope that I won't be perpetually working night shifts.

Have a good day all!

Luv blackberries, I started my own bush this summer. If it survives the winter, I may see some fruit next year.

My brother had great results with raspberries....large patch...a lot of work...decades.

I liked finding wild blackberries but usually the birds and bears got to them first.

Up at 0430....So nice to have a couple smokes and a cup of joe alone. We have a smoking gazebo.

Early morning I think more about the tiniest things I'm grateful for. Later in the day it gets more involved with larger things to deal with, and gratitude gets harder.

States of well-being and equilibrium are happening more with each decision to live clean and sober. Al-anon has taught me a lot about detachment, patience, tolerance, and acceptance.

Saw a large owl sweep by the windows...something I've rarely seen.

I think I'll add fruit to oatmeal this morning.

I've put on a lot of weight...in at 240lbs...heaviest I've been....but no diet or exercise yet.

Glucose level taken before lunch has been acceptable...if...I eat a decent supper meal the evening before and a decent breakfast.

How can I be of service today to another person affected by alcohol and drugs? The beauty is it comes organically.

Thinking of you all....

Putzing is just fine....is that a SW WI saying?

Sometimes I hear the word putz
somebody taking their time and doing nothing.

Weird time to wake up or remember weird time.
I’ve been putzing around myself. Now outside with coffee and smoke waiting for the birds to wake up.
Usual Saturday with Gdaughter ahead. She is becoming a person which means frustration and tantrums. Interesting to watch but oy vey!

A good Saturday to all.

I always love to have time for “putsing” around. They don’t say it in California but they sure do in Michigan where I grew up.
Usually drinking coffee and sometimes doing silly chores like wiping off light switches and door knobs.
I put up a hummingbird feeder when I moved in June and those little birds consume tons of feed...
Always refilling it but they are so fun to watch and not shy of me at all.
These kind of things bring joy in sobriety.
That and fresh berries of course!

Putzing around has been in my vocabulary all my life. It must be an East Coast thing. It apparently comes from Pennsylvania Amish?

Off to work shortly. Cold day but sunny here.

Enjoy the day all!

My wife's family are Ukrainian and they've always pronounced it putz-skee-ing.

Up at 6:30am to feed the dog, went back to bed for awhile.

Feeling a bit under-the-weather.
Thankful that Sunday is a day of rest!

Slept 8 hours. Woke up to another strange dream but it’s fading fast with 21 degree air and strong coffee.
Get some rest and feel better Chloe. I’m definitely getting a flu shot this week myself.
Dragging out the crockpot for beef stew and hoping to get some deep cleaning done when Gdaughter naps today. I tend to sit on my butt and stew myself!
Feeling a bit more hopeful and trying to be positive about life.

Late check-in but been up awhile.
I like my first cup of joe and smoke alone outside...so I was a bit bothered by the presence of other people.
Walked across to the concert hall. Someone left their sleeping bag by the service doors. Hope they got a warm place to sleep even if it was jail. We already had a young man die from exposure this month.
My drunkenness had me on the street for several days, in transitional living, and a shelter. I am grateful I have my own apartment now. But with a drink it could be gone.

Chloe - get well.

Pulling for all of us no matter where we are in life.

Good morning all and happy Sunday.
Sounds like we are all on the strong coffee track.
Just want to say how much I enjoy reading all your posts and coming here every day has been a big part of my recovery. Coming up on six months.
Some times it’s hard to see the bigger picture but no matter the form the addiction takes, the more kindness we can give ourselves and others is a key point in healing and happiness.
Wiscober, we have many homeless people in my area but not the frigid cold.
I am grateful every day for the roof over my head for sure.
Have a great day all.

2:00 AMish

Darn bathroom alarm went off and I decided to just stay awake and enjoy quiet time this morning.
No plans or commitments today. I intend to enjoy it!

A pleasant Monday to all.
