Weekends past - If this weekend was like others Weekenders 27 - 30 May 2022
Hi Weekenders,
Thanks CS, and congratulations on the job offer!
Mags, you do have a lot on your plate. Hope you can rest between tasks.
Kaily, your garden is gorgeous! I'm envious. You've obviously put a lot of work into it.
I'm happy to be here and sober on a Saturday morning! More garden cleanup after last Saturday's storm.
I've been pacing myself as I have chronic hip pain and the initial cleanup led to back pain.

Love your garden Kaily, is that a fish pond? When we moved into our house (22 years ago) we discovered a fish pond in the back yard which we did not remember see when we first toured the house. It lasted a few years until all the fish had died off. I recall it was alot of work.
AthensDawgs, When I was was actively drinking I tried to stick to a certain budget amount for booze. I rarely stayed within that amount, but the idea was to try and keep it under the radar (I thought I was fooling Mrs D). Anyhow, when I stopped drinking, I started to sock away that 'budgeted' amount. I soon took up a couple of hobbies on which I use that money now and I'm very happy with my accumulations so far. The interests go a long way to keeping me sober these days.

Cityboy, when I first moved to Canada from N.Ireland, I tended to still talk about weight in stones. One fellow was bemused and asked me in jest, if the size of a stone was "a pebble, or a regular boulder "!
Calm that is wonderful congratulations on the job offer.
nice car.
Went on an outing this afternoon, me and CK and son-in-law and MK and son-in-law. We walked ,well CK pushed me in a wheelchair, to a Mexican restaurant that was so popular it has an hour wait for service. we ate outside so we could bring both dogs, mine and CK's. I had a quesadilla the best I've ever had.

Congratulations on the new job calmself, well done!
I'm glad your newish job is going well too AthensDawg.
Yes, one day at a time Mags, no need to get everything done in a day.
Your garden looks an attractive place to sit outside Kaily, it would be nice to have a garden.
Overall you are doing really well PJ, I hope the clouds disappear soon.
Hang in there itsmaria!
Here's another Saoutchik - a Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport from 1949. It was briefly the world's fastest production car although since they only built 36 of them calling it a production car is stretching the definition to its limit.

Hello Weekenders. I have been away and have gotten behind. My Mom's celebration of life was last Monday. It went as well as it could. She died April 22 and I still feel kind of numb. The grief comes in waves and I really miss her. She was 89 and I am grateful she had a good long life. She really was my best friend. I am constantly thinking of calling her to tell her what is going on in my life. She was in Florida and I am in NC. As some of you know I lost my brother somewhat unexpectedly in the end of February too. So much to process at once. But I have stayed sober through it all. 17 months and counting.
Thanks for the new thread Mags. I am in. I wish you luck with your upcoming move and surgery.
Kaily I am so sorry to hear about you having lost your partner suddenly 10 years ago.
Manta I am glad you are out of the hospital. I hope you can eat again.
Aly I hope your ulcer is doing better.
Calmself congrats on the job offer!
PJ I hope you feel better.
Sharing a sunset picture from my visit to Florida for my Mom's service.
