Toooo funny, Bim. Thanks.

The jewelry commercials this time of year drive me nuts.

MesaMan, your new puppy is quite adorable. Cute, cute, cute. Hope he does well at the vet.

I didn't realise sunset times are now as early as they are going to get. I've just checked and sunset where I live is 15:38 for the next week before getting slightly later. Sunrise is still slighly later week on week for the rest of month though (08:20 this morning).

Sorry about the anxiety, sortofhomecomin. I know this is a really hard time of year for lots of people, made even weirder and harder by the whole pandemic thing. I'm having a really hard time caring much about Christmas one way or the other this year. Seems like we should just cancel it until next year, but I have a grandchild who would not like that idea!
Is there anything that might help you with the anxiety? What tools do you have for coping with it?

Doing everything I can to stay sober this weekend but I'm already struggling. Got laid off, had to cancel my trip to see my parents due to lockdown until January 8th, and my cat is even more sick than usual. He is old, and blind but I love him ☹. Just a **** time for me right now.

Thanks for a great OP Mags, I love the poem.

Welcome to Weekenders ironwill!

Good luck with your impressive list Velvetee and others. I cannot match them but I did manage to have my winter haircut, that should see me through to Easter

Glad Mesa pup seems to be on top of his situation.

Loving Olive/Mabel and the Ads.

Hang in there sortofhomcomin, anxiousrock, this time of the year heightens a lot of negative feelings but we can get through them.

Hah, it's just a list. I am sure that it will be half-assed and I'll spend most of the weekend in bed But I'd love to finish these things before the end of the year... I haven't done much in the past 2 years, too stressed out, anxious, and just depressed. I noticed that drinking was also a way to fill the void so I'm keeping myself busy with stuff.
Stay strong, everyone, even if you don't do anything but just stay sober, it's a great achievement!

Velvetee, take care of yourself and don't let the stress or anxiety get the best of you.
This christmas and new year i'm spending sober. I always gave myself a reason to drink during this period because it's the holidays and others do it. This year i'm gonna be sober and drink some julmust instead. New so i couldn't post links but if you wonder about julmust it's on wikipedia.

Welcome to the Weekenders thread Vik88. I've heard of Julmust, I've not tried it though. It's not easy to buy here in the UK as there's not many shops that stock it and the handful that usually do haven't been able to get any stock this December. Even Ikea, who usually sell it in December, aren't selling it this year.

Thanks Mags.

My list

1) Stop making lists-

2) Do what I have written on a list.

just me, no one else.

Thanks for this. Exercise and music are my main tools. However, tbh, I don't think there is a perfect solution other than putting more time between me and alcohol. I feel better at night time, I've always been an owl rather than a lark.

Welcome to Weekenders Vic88! I have only ever seen Julmust in IKEA in the UK. I did wonder what it was - thanks to Wiki and to you for prompting me I know now.

Getting some sober time in is sound thinking sortifhomecoming. Removing alcohol from our systems almost certainly reduces anxiety in the long term.

The canal earlier this evening. It looks like daytime but it was between 7 and 8pm so pitch dark.
