Day 52 in the bag. By now many posters only drop by occasionally but I need to be here and look forward to typing a few lines before bed.
With a heavy heart I won't be inviting you down for 15 drinks, Gabe!! but I'll ask you about eating places nearer the time if that's okay and what to do if it's like this

You are doing great! I don't think it matters how many people drop by, I have my blog and like you, it just is helping me to write a few lines on it when I feel like it, sometimes when I don't feel like it because it is helping with my self discipline. Plus, it gets all the ranting out of me sometimes.

Congrats on day 52! It's your thread has really inspired me and your story gives me hope. I also have started a journal on here, however I'm still working on my day 1. Hopefully today is the day. I'm just taking it hour by hour. Thank you sharing your journey.

Day 1's the hardest to push away from the drinking norm. You'll find an honesty in day 1 as there's no AV there - just your raw desire to rid yourself of ethanol poisoning.
I look forward to checking your logins as the days climb.

Day 55. Trying to remain in a forward looking mode so I did some money saving things like switching utility providers, cancel a DD I don't really use and had a run to the recycling/waste centre to clear out stuff from the garage. When I was drinking I didn't care about how tidy my garage was or saving a wee bit money. Today's steps still hit 11,000 despite not actively going out to exercise and my food choices were ok.

I've been thinking tonight whether I'll actively discourage my kids to drink when they turn of legal age. One of the reasons I want to stop is they're becoming old enough to see that dad's been drinking lots of glass bottles every night. I've quite enjoyed the last few fortnightly recycling bin/trash lorry visits as I've been putting out similar to the neighbours, whereas before It was embarrassing hearing the crash or 200 beer bottles.

I can relate to the wheelie bin, trying to silently get mine down 3 steps was a nightmare
I think when your kids get older, they are influenced more by their peers than parents when it comes to drinking? But you will be aware enough with your own experiences to add caution.
I know my dad, drunk as a skunk would say to me "If you EVER touch drugs, I'll disown you!" Never even crossed my mind until years later that alcohol was actually a highly toxic drug, it was just "the drink" Mad how things were accepted because people had been "on the drink" or someone was ill next day from "the drink" or died of "the drink"

You are doing great Alba.....
I think we are the product of the way alcohol has been seen in the country and the lack of education in the last century. I remember going to uni in 1998 and there were guys with super soakers full of vodka, squirting shots into the freshers mouths.....these were kids that were 18 and had just left home. How crazy is that?

But would have frequented the same places. The three sisters, Potterow, Why Now, Siglo, Cavendish, Subway West, The Ark, Liquid Rooms, Eros and Elite, Revolution etc.
It's a lovely city, Edinburgh.
Our paths would have crossed! How funny! What a long time ago........
