That can be destressing. Glad to read it means the warning color, not the biological weapon.

Morning Weekenders, you are an early riser Mags. Ken/Weasel1966 who used to open the thread was the same. It is much brighter and drier outside this morning which is handy as Tuesday is rubbish collection/recycling day.

Morning all,

Dad still in hospital, MLD you were pretty spot on. He has Atrial Flutter and heart failure plus still has to have more tests. Think he is feeling a bit better though as he is returning to his cantankerous and argumentative self! Difficult times.

Manta Happy Soberversary

Thanks Kaily and Mags and vman x. It’s crazy to think 1 year ago at his time today I was getting my bags searched and all my Perfume / deodorant and mosquito spray confiscated as they contain alcohol , was super nervous and scared half way across the world in Thailand. Don’t think I realised what a lot of work I had ahead of me or how messed up my thinking was.

It’s very cold and very very rainy here on the coast, sat in my pj’s in a lovely little conservatory overlooking the Pembry coast waiting for my full English breakfast! It’s a lovely little place and the owner is a woman in her late 60’s who’s husband passed away of dementia so decided to rent out one room to give her something to do. She’s lovely and a bit of a talker lol.

The rain is supposed to get a bit lighter around 10-11 so I will set off around then for a walk on the beach.

Hope everyone is doing well this morning x

Morning,

A rainy Tuesday expected here too. Good for the flours, trees and grass.

We have had three wasps in the house over the last two weeks. The one last night was really lethargic. Like its been trapped indoors for a while. No idea how they are getting in and I'm not seeing any activity outside. My wife is super parinoid about them setting up shop in the attic or walls. Not very common in these parts but it's one of her annual things. We have a stock of unused wasp spray as a result.

Kaily, did you make that card for Manta? That is beautiful!

Of course, our star of the thread this week has to be Manta. So happy for you, and the coast sounds fantastic, regardless of the weather. Really well done getting to this year sober. Keep it going, it keeps getting better.

Manta, from one diver to another, may we never be caught in the vortex of alcohol ever again. I'll pledge it with you.

...is that corny? Probably.

Good thread. I don't eat meat and that annoys/confuses the crap out of most Americans. I stopped trying to explain because it just somehow becomes a political conversation every damn time.

I can't wait until I have to explain why I am turning down a drink. I can just see the eye rolling now "could she BE any more annoying???"

LOL

I live in Wisconsin. It's difficult but obviously not impossible to be a non-drinker here. If you look up America's drunkest cities, I think Wisconsin cities take 5 of the top 10. It's just what people DO here - social life is built on booze. I realize lots of other places are the same, but it seems to be taken to a different level here. So when I tell people I don't know well that I don't drink, they sort of get this puzzled look. Like "how is that even possible?" But, with lots of drinking, there also comes a lot of alcoholics. So thankfully the recovery community is strong here. Takes a while to find them, but we are here, and have each others' backs.

My big news of the day is that my new central air conditioning unit is being installed this morning. My old one was VERY old, and just wasn't cutting it anymore. I'm looking forward to cool indoor air again. Good timing on this - last week when it was in the 90's it got pretty miserable in my house. It's been cooler the last couple of days, but hot weather will show up again at some point.

Welcome to Weekenders Daytrippin! I have only eaten meat two or three times this year tops.

Well done Mags, I am a fairly early riser these days.

Congratulations on a year MantaLady! Fantastic achievement, you can be really proud of yourself.

((((dpac))):emotional pain can really sting; be kind to yourself.

Dragon, how cool finding that bottled and buried note!

Good to see you, SnoozyQ.

Congrats, mariposa, on 10 weeks.

Well done staying strong, MindfulMan, despite the non-disclosed alcohol in that lemonade. I had a similar experience with cake.
