LOL about the elaborate drinking ritual. Badge!

Isn’t it nice to be free?

38! That's a lot Badge!

Isn't it crazy what efforts we went through just to maintain our drinking? How much unnecessary drama and stress, no wonder we felt like we had to drink...

I can't believe that there were times when the things you described seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

Yep Badge, totally hear you on that one, I used to even put those wine filled plastic bottles in my suitcase and carryon baggage whenever I flew anywhere, which was pretty often (you don’t have the 100ml rule on liquids in Oz) to ensure I never ever got stuck anywhere anytime without an ample wine supply, just in case there was no immediate opportunity to get access to a bottlo (alcohol shop) on my arrival, or in case I was surrounded by family and had no opportunity... So much energy to keep up the constant supply.

Sooo much better to be able to relax without the stress of trying to do all of that!

I went grocery shopping today... grinning and proud of myself because the cart didn't include anything preprepared and/or frozen. Oddly enough, I also seemed to fill up my cart for less money than normal. WHERE'S MY MEDAL!!

I agree you deserve a medal Tee!! Or did any of you also had these little notebooks in primary school in which your teachers would give you a little stamp each time you got your homework right?
We had smilie face ones and also a train stamp which I loved, I am weirdly passionate about trains

It’s 2 am and I can’t sleep again. I felt tired all day but as soon as I get into bed I feel wide awake. I think by now I am so scared of not being able to sleep and of having nightmares when I finally fall asleep and feel anxious about waking up feeling utterly depressed (the mornings are horrible) that all this fear and anxiety keeps my body from sleeping. Ugh.

I find the concept of dreaming pretty scary. Then our subconscious mind takes over and can confront and torture us with all the feelings and things we don’t want to look at during the day. While we’re totally defenceless and can’t use any coping strategies or logic our way out of fears.

My business trips involved elaborate pre-planning on the aquision of appropriate quanties of alcohol. I would make maps of all the places near by that I could slip into.

YES, Congrats Lilymaz!!!

Wow Badge...all that traveling, then having to be at work Sunday when you get back?!? Kudos!!!

Love your kitty pic, TJV.....reminds me a lot of my Marty who passed away a few years ago...her nickname was "Mar Mar" and she was very talkative!

Well I barely made it through the evening....I pretty much hate my job...had myself convinced to use a personal day tomorrow so I could drink tonight...somehow I settled for cookies and milk instead....we'll see how tomorrow goes

Hi, GettingSmarter!

Sorry that your job grates on your nerves, Purps—but glad you chose the nice comfort food solution rather than resorting to alcohol.

Many congratulations Lilymaz!

Badge that is a he'll of a long day and would likely be a terrible one of you were drinking. Hats off to you.

Well done Purplrcks on not obeying to your AV. I hope the job is a bit better next time you go in. At least with a bit of sober time it might put you in a place to find somewhere better.

Hot and humid in London again but we are supposed to get thunder and rain later.

Happy Friday Weekenders! congrats lilymaz!

rain forecast later, as Sao says. it will be good to cool things down a bit, but I hope it doesn't hide the lunar eclipse - aka "blood moon" - tonight:
sorry North Americans, you don't get to see it this time.
