Chicago has extremes too... but it can get colder and gets hot and humid a lot less often... and a 12 inch or more snowstorm is not uncommon.
For me, it is "Southern Climate or Bust" within the next couple of years.
Your holiday plans sound fantastic VMan. I guess your friends are aware that you no longer drink. Hopefully they will not be the party people they once were either.

That’s a great one!
Actually, you told it before on this thread, and I ran to my kids to use it on them—and they totally didn’t get it. They had no idea of what the Pyrenees even were. They couldn’t even distinguish between the syllables I was saying, so it fell totally flat!
I was so, so, so—unfulfilled! What a waste!

2 days to go. So I went to the Osteopath yesterday evening for my sciatica and disk trouble . Result, slept like a log and seems like the pain has been reduced by a factor of two. Wow they are miracle workers Osteopaths. You hear talking about the often but it usulally gos in one ear and out the other for me. No longer.
Gilmer (K) your a little miracle.
Dragon is in fairyland right now for a well deserved sleep
Suze, TeeJay, I only once got to visit the US and it was San Francisco and San Diego, it was in December and the weather was pretty lovely temperature wise for that time of year.
The hottest place I ever visited was Egypt.
Wow I think it got up to 50°c (122f) Unbearable.
One day we went to visit the bedouin people. How do they live like that all year round in the desert. Amazing.
