The Big Switcheroo Weekender 20-25 June 2018
But just like drinking, it ruined my day. I was foggy and tired, no motivaton and ended up having a long mid day nap.
Aww will do Purps!! Here's Leon playing fetch, his favourite game. Sometimes I think I have a doggo...

Morning everyone. Willow, very well done on defeating that AV and congratulations on 42 days/6 weeks!
I am on my first cup of coffee, I too limit my intake to no later than about 11am. Not only does it mess up my sleep pattern but coffee is not as satisfying later than mid morning.
Waking up hangover free and with enough energy to do things never loses its appeal and is probably the one thing us drinkers/users have over people who never drink and take waking up hangover free for granted, we know better. If anyone reads this later on who is feeling pretty wretched and hungover then do give SR a try even if it is just a stepping stone to something like AA or rehab. We know how you feel and we can help to get you in the right frame of mind to resist those stupid cravings.

Morning all.
We had friends over last night. One is a drinker. He had 6 beers and 3 big glasses of wine. Then drove home. For the moment he is NOT a no off button, blackout drinker. He seems to peacefully and silently doze off after a while when he has too much. He is an ok bloke. Works and looks after 2 kids. He once was homeless living on the street. He found his way into a home hostel for young workers (foyer de jeunes travailleurs) and met one of my wife's friends there. We have been friends for nearly 20 years.
We have some more visitors today. More drinkers.
Why is this bugging me so much....
I just don't want to be around it.
I need to chill a little.
So prognostics for the word cup winner.... Spain?
Croatia? Mexico?
Coffee time.

Yesterday I knew I had to bake two cakes (one regular, one supposedly “low carb”) for my younger daughter’s birthday party tonight.
Yesterday I was just feeling too overwhelmed to face it; but I went to bed early and set my alarm for 4 am.
I woke up at 3:58, so I was able to turn off my ear-piercing alarm before it woke anyone.
I am well ready to gather my ingredients list and march out to the 24-hour supermarket.
Hopefully I’ll get them both baked before church, then I’ll be able to catch a nap afterward.
Everyone will meet at our house at 6, then her husband is taking the whole gang of us out to dinner.
It should be fun—but nevertheless, it’s an ordeal, and I’ll be relieved when the day is over.

Well thanks for the hellos! I’m checking this thread out as our little class seems to be just you and me Vinny. I’m not the most prolific poster but it’s nice to read all of the weekender posts so here I am weighing in . I usually take charge of the kids at family events these days when the drinkers get going, they are much better company!
Vinny, I'm wishing you strength and clarity at the get-together. I don't like drinking events. I just don't invite drinkers to my house...that way I can always go home. Home has to be safe for me.
This 3AM wakeup is getting to be the new me. On the other end, I do go to bed really early...like 8ish. So obviously I'm doing a lot of partying! Lots of outdoor time though. That wears me out and then I have dinner and bed seems the next right thing.
Lurkers, if you're reading this and you had drinks this weekend - stop the damage now. There's still time to straighten things out and enjoy part of your day.
I am SO glad to be away from that awful feeling. No more guilt and shame. That right there is worth quitting drinking.
It's Sunday here. Prayers for the suffering alcoholics and the people who love them.
