Thank You Weekenders. 22-24th Sept
Thanks gang! I did mention it to a couple of co-workers today. When I was still drinking and for a long time after I quit I never ever mentioned my alcoholism at work. Sadly, for me at least I still think I was right to do so as I think that on balance would have counted against me more than any help I might have got although I am not 100% certain of that. Now that I have a chunk of time under by belt I let it be known that I liked a drink "too much" in a kind of jokey way that downplays the true extent of my alcoholism.
I'm not sure what that says about me or where I work but then I suppose most of us put the best gloss on our resumes.

You should be proud 😀Is all good. Usually only drunks understand what is to be a drunk and to come out the other side .
That's why I don't think I would ever mention anything at work but I'm not 1000 days 😀On the plus side you won't have to decline a drink anymore or answer the stupid question "why you are not drinking"
Sighhh work it's hard I wish I could win the lotto 😀😅

I am extremely grateful to you on this thread and all of SR for all the advice and support you have given me. I would not have made it otherwise so I really do owe you all big time.
IN!
Dang, I am late to this thread.
I think it's been like a month since I last posted, so this thread seemed like a good place.
Been a busy month. I finally fully transitioned to being ONLY self-employed (a.k.a. I quit my day job). Right after I quit I went to a tax conference (which was awesome!), then 18 hours after returning home from that Mrs Nons and I went on our 25th anniversary trip to Europe. Returned from that to find my inbox crushed with both new and old business, so I've been working that off. Feeling pretty caught up now so I thought I'd come see how the sublimely sober folks are doing.
Europe was awesome, but drinking seems to be more interwoven with that culture than ours. I never ordered a drink (of course), but I was served twice. Both times I just pushed it over to Mrs Nons (who now had 2) and both times the server made 'helpful' suggestions about what I might like instead (Beer? Compari? White?, etc. ) NOT drinking seems to be lost on them.
One evening we were siting at a bistro enjoying the Paris evening air and I started feeling sorry for myself that I couldn't drink. A regular ol' pity party started creeping over me. Then another voice spoke up and said, you're in Paris with the love of your life, on a beautiful evening, after a great dinner - and you're feeling sorry for yourself?
That's when I realized it could only be that rascally AV who would try to wreck that moment for me. He caught me unawares for a few minutes, but he ultimately revealed himself and his treachery. He was immediately banished to his box (the one with the really small air holes) and I haven't heard from him since.
Keep rocking it sober, Weekenders!

Ohh yea! I am back! went to the gym and spent an hour on the treadmill doing 2 minute intervals and discovering what I missed and love about running. I won't be able to get out of bed in the morning but man it was worth it. Felt like I was dancing. woot!
Ya, but as predicted, walking is a wee bit difficult. Had to roll my feet on on a frozen water bottle. acheles tendons are suprizingly OK tho. Can't wait to do it again. Maybe tomorrow.
Happy Hump day!
