Hello all, lovely thread!
Saoutchik nice pic! I know what you mean. I had a bird do that against my patio door a while back. Always really early in the morning, and he'd do it for ages at a time. For some weeks. Eventually I had to put newspaper over the doors to stop him! I always like to see when ppl stop driving to let ducks and babes cross the street!

Welcome to Weekenders SoberTyger, congratulations on day 2.

Good to see you Leshar. I think these are more for PR as ducks can't read but there are now Duck Lanes on parts of the towpath.

This is not my own photo

Hello SoberTyger you'll probably be feeling tired for the next little while depending on history with drinking. Be easy on yourself and do the good things your doing. Rest and eat well. and continue posting here, SR is a great place.

BC now you've got me watching duck video's on youtube..... lol.

My parents use to volunteer for a local wildlife rescue operation. My dad was even trained on safely handling birds of prey. Anyhow, one day I saw a mom duck and baby's near a highway crossing and I called my mom to find out what I could do. She told me to try and shoo it in the other direction as there was pond not to far away. So I tried that but the mother duck didn't like that so she decided to attack! There I was on the corner of the highway dancing as this silly duck was running at me, thru my legs and back again. In the end, when she had enough, she lead here baby's in the right direction. So mission accomplished.

I can think of worse ways to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Of course all of us can, I'm sure LOL

You said you were watching Breaking bad ST. For the first time, and where are you at in the show?

GO AJ!

Wow, heavyweight fights are usually tedious but Anthony Joshua v Vladimir Klitschko was a classic. Needed to go to the bathroom from Round 5 onwards but didn't dare which is always the sign of a good fight. Well done both guys.

Night Petals.

BC, my wife got into it some time ago, my son has his own Netflix account (Which I didn't know) and they watch it on his PlayStation. They were up to Season 4, the last four episodes. And we watched thru to season 5 episode 4 or 5. So I got to see Gus get blown up. And now the boys are cooking in peoples tarped up homes just before the bug company fumigates. I picked up the drift of the show when my wife and son were watching it before.

Last season is so good! Best finale to a show ever.

Dang, I didn't even see that fight on here, it probably would have been pay-per-view anyway. I enjoy boxing, it's sad to see the state it is in now. It seems everyone under age 30 prefers MMA. I'll watch an MMA fight once in a while, but I really prefer the "sweet science."

Back from the casino, ready for bed. Lost $50, my savings from being sober, so ok.

Had sparkling water with dinner, as did 3 ( of 4) friends. Came back home with 2 friends and I had 1/2 a non-alcoholic beer. Beer was never my thing. I really wanted a wine but we didn't stop. everyone was having regular beer. But I think I did ok.

They each had 1 beer and left.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Morning.

Well done Shitzupuppy, it was good that 3 out of 4 were not drinking.

I agree about the state of boxing DesertDawg, I am plenty old enough to remember when it was good. No MMA for me.

I hope everyone gets through Saturday night unscathed, it is always worth it, I am drinking coffee and just finished eating scrambled eggs which I wouldn't be doing with a hangover.

Morning guys.
Lots of AV activity at the moment....
I could really do without it! My brain is in overdrive already at the moment. 😐
X
Pretty windy outside today. May go for a walk later and try and blow away some of the cobwebs.

Good morning all.

Yesterday turned out not to be as much of a struggle as I had anticipated. Didn't drink but could have made things easier on myself.

We went for dinner for dinner as a family and my wife had a cocktail, a fairly large one at that. It didn't bother me too much as I would never have drunk them anyway in the past and we had the car. Good progress though.

One the way back I was invited to watch the boxing match at a friends with the car if I wanted. I turned this down as they would have been doing what I would have been doing previously and having a good few beers. Instead I watched it on my own with a crappy twitter stream that kept cutting out. I think I would have been ok there not drinking and taking the car so wouldn't have been able to drink.

There was still a fair bit of anger there last night around what I was giving up.

Anyway fresh this morning. 14 days down and off to the gym shortly.

Have a good day.

Morning everyone.

Hi Petals, a walk sound like a good idea.

You did the right thing Mark1515. Avoiding possible situations early in sobriety, you need to do what you did to protect your sobriety. Focus on what your gaining and be proud of your strength instead of ruminating on what your 'missing out'.

I had a dream that my son brought home a full set of professional gym equipment. He 'borrowed' from a friend. I started to use it. Subconscious must be telling me to get my ass back in gear and start kicking some.

Although I made it thru last night and feel fine today about what's planned, (no AV), I still rate last night at about a 4/10 on the fun scale.
It was pretty low key, no boisterous laughing and joking.
It was almost like a business meeting.

Good job for everyone last night!

Just be aware, Pup, there is a very small amount of alcohol in N.A. beers! And just the taste of beer can keep those cravings hanging around. I would go for something totally different, but that is me
