Heel beat weekender Nov 6th
Oh Marty blah! What a night!! Grrrr! Ice cream should fix it though!
Guess I should have some too, just to cancel out the grease from the onion rings .
Have no idea what song trach posted but it's the thought that counts right?

I gotta ask, though ... Is Neil like 14 years old in that vid.
This weekend's thread is extra fun.
Don't feel bad about the onion rings. They don't make you greasy they lubricate onion rings are one of the fried foods I love.
Hola gang. Up and down week here!
The other day the new "supervisor" on my tech team laid down some new standards that left many of us worker bees aghast. I've been on board with this little startup since the beginning, so it was hard being told by a new hire that THERE'S A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN. I don't think her first meeting went across too well.
Then again, I've been that sheriff and it's a tough spot to be in. You're hired to do a job, and you want to prove to the CEO that you've got a plan. You're going to whip the team into shape! Of course, since we've tripled company revenue over the past year, there aren't many of us that need whipping. But when you're thrust into a new role, you feel pressure to make something happen. Unfortunately, scaring the bejeezus out of your co-workers right out of the gate is the wrong way to go about it. She's young and this is her first management gig, I've been there and made the same rookie mistake. Opposition is already forming: a co-worker told me this morning that she is starting to look for a new job ASAP!
Not me, not now. Being sober allows me to sit back and just put it in perspective. No reason to fume and simmer. I do what's asked of me by my employer. Until I'm my own boss, it's in my best interest. Let others speculate and gossip while I'm busy working and doing my job. I'm confident I'll keep doing well, there's no reason to doubt myself just because others might be.

Just got home from work. There must be some crazy stuff in the water here - people were WEIRD at the box office tonight. Oh, and, people - the show starts at 7:30. Show up before 7:29:59 to buy your tickets. Please. Oh, and if you are new to town and don't know how to get here, DO NOT call us at 7:25 looking for directions and expecting us to stay on the phone with you and hold your hand all the way here. We are trying to sell tickets to the people who showed up at 7:29:59! Ever heard of planning ahead? Or GPS??????? Holy buckets. Ok. I'm done with my rant. I always stay as nice as I can - not easy sometimes under the circumstances.
Good grief; your night was a nightmare, MLD
If you have never tried it, it's takes a bit of stirring to get it to mix but when it does you will get to a soft serve consistency. It's great cause it seems extra sinful but the chocolate only adds 10 cal per tablespoon. I add several. Beware if you do add a lot it def gets a bit bitter but it makes it more interesting.

Are her new standards very unreasonable?

Hopefully, you didn't scarf any Poppy Seed Products that caused you to have to 'hit the Cup' for Drug Test #2.
'Opiates (morphine and codeine) can be detected in urine for at least 48 hours after one eats food containing poppy seeds. As little as a single bagel covered with poppy seeds could produce a false positive test for these drugs.'

BBQed Chicken + Salad for Dude-determined Dinner tonight. I met the Letter of the Law today. Da Missus made Muffins.

Does Della know about this little 'mind meld' thingy between the two of you??
Oh GS....I love your logic on the whole greasy onion ring deal. Are you flooded out yet? Quite the rain tonight, eh? Thank god I got that drainage problem taken care of!
BigS...I love that! Having the wherewithal to be able to sit back and put things in perspective instead of always Reacting haphazardly to circumstances. Well said! And awesome perspective!

MLD, , I feel you, sister!
That's pretty much my every day. I work in a service-oriented job and the customers are... um... You know. I've learned to deal with it philosophically, repeating the same thing many times throughout a day with a smile on my face.

This thread has been hopping today...must have been when I was taking a long delightful nap, which I hope doesn't interfere with tonight's snooze. But I doubt it will.
Biminiblue. ..good job on the interview. ..but weird on the test. I have heard that inclusive tests are common. No need to worry.
I can't wait for the weekend. Nothing new around here. Me and the doggies are settling in for the night. I brought all my potted geraniums inside tonight so they don't freeze.
Ok...I'm even boring myself with this post. Guess I'll read or see what's on tv.

Nope. But they are standards. She's basically our new babysitter, reporting to mom that we ate our vegetables.
I guess the theory is that we're going to hire a bunch more people, and a larger team will provide more spaces for the lazy to hide out. I'm not too worried about my security: I've been evaluated a ton, and even just got a pay raise last week!
Our company began as a little tech startup that grew out of brainstorming and had a very "garage-band" feel to our culture. Our old "shipping department", for example, consisted entirely of one Eastern European immigrant packing boxes in the owner's basement. We've grown a bunch and have become a real company now. Many of the company's veterans are naturally irritated that we have to act like a bigger business these days. I don't blame them, especially considering how hard we worked to help the company get to this point. Such is the price of success, I reckon. We're not the first or the last tech company to go through it.
