Starting new life without alchohol
Good stuff. Try to mix your running with walking. Walk a bit, run a bit, walk a bit etc. You need to get your leg muscles strengthened a bit. The walk, run thing will do that for you.
Well Done, Brian- I am on Day 18. Until I read your post about the coughing in the morning I didn't realize mine was gone! Yes, I def had this and had no idea why- I blamed 'allergies' but now I've got to say it was the booze.
So glad you dumped the beer! I almost bought white wine for a recipe I was making and thought, who am I kidding? I can't just used 1/4 cup for cooking and expect to just save the rest for next time. Just did without it.

Day 12 now, still progressing nicely. I don't think much about drinking anymore, its like my mind has accepted that I am done with it. My roommate drinks a few beers most nights right in front of me sometimes and It doesn't bother me in the least, its just like after I quit smoking being around people smoking didn't and still does not bother me, I actually enjoy the smell of second hand smoke which is strange since I quit just over 15 months ago. I am currently focused on my jogging, eating healthier, my son and the joy of lots of energy with a clear head. Life just feels so much better.

Day 16 today, still going strong. On the past weekend I though I should get rid of all the empty beer bottles in the garage, my son and myself took back 17 cases and I got just over 40 dollars which normally was reinvested back into full bottles. I think that was the only time I ever went into a beer store and didn't buy anything, actually I started to walk into the back (self serve store) of the beer store then looked at my son and started laughing as I turned around to leave the store. I was laughing because of the habit that I had formed when being in the beer store, I would always walk in the same door and go right to my preferred brand, now that I have no need for it I will probably never be in the store again. Getting rid of the bottles gave me a sense that my relationship with beer is really over which I did not think would happen. When I got home I just stared at my empties spot in the garage wondering what to use it for now.

Day 18, nothing exciting to report except for waking up every morning at 5:00am or shortly after then trying to get back to sleep as I normally get up at 7:00-7:30
I don't remember this happening when I was drinking but now its every day for some reason. I am assuming it has to do with not drinking anymore but I sure wish it would stop.
Has this happened to anyone else after quitting?
Brian
