Today: waking up feeling really heavy and dehydrated... then realizing it's because of all the exercising/exploring I did yesterday on my bicycle. A far better "hangover"!

I didn't sleep very well last night but I also didn't drink last night. I felt pretty darn good at work today even with 4 1/2 hours of sleep. Well, maybe not fabulous but a bazillion trillion times better than how I used to feel everyday at work with a hangover! I'm starting to actually enjoy being a non-drinker!

Things seem simpler. And the truly important things are more clear.

Not having to lie to my loved ones. Honesty is a great feeling!

If I 'shiver', I KNOW it's because I'm cold and I'm not dreading things progressing.

I think my favourite thing about being sober is the fact that I have the confidence to know I can succeed in life because I will approach everything with a sober, clear mind. I don't have the alcohol chains around my ankles, dragging me down and causing me to fail where I would normally have succeeded.

I'm spending my $$$ on massages and acupuncture to treat my body well instead of drowning it in wine.

I drank water from my water bottle like a normal person today. Just the right amount. Gone are the days of drinking 2 L of water on the way to work and still feeling dehydrated. Not only dehydrated but sick. When I was drinking there is no amount of water that made me feel better at all.

Going to my sons Super Bowl game and
Letting him go celebrate with his team mates instead of concentrating on buying my wine and getting home to drink.

Being able to deal with life as it comes, and not having the urge to pick up a drink after a tough day at work. Freedom.

Being able and ready to help others. I did my first 12th step call tonight and the guy I brought to our friday night chip meeting was very thankful. He had never been to my fellowship before and is planning to come back tomorrow.
