Hey Weekenders!!

Settling in on my Friday evening, almost time for bed, work again tomorrow morning, I can see a large coffee in my Saturday morning future!!

Welcome to all our newcomers, great to have everyone onboard, the Sober bus is chugging along nicely, but still plenty of seats for many more people needing some extra support this weekend!!

Let's keep it Sober!!

Well its a late one for me tonight.

Watching the NHL (I'm a big fan). It doesn't usually start here until midnight. In my drinking days I missed all the games because I was pretty much passed out by then. It's not the same when you can't watch them live.

Anyway, enjoy your night guys and gals.

Hi Mister G - I had the same problem here in North America trying to watch the EPL. Normally I was so drunk on Fridays that I would sleep late on Saturdays and miss the action. These days I can get up early and watch English Football. PS - Newcastle better light a fire under their arses soon, they are bringing up the rear with QPR and Burnley. Did they can their manager yet? Sheesh.

PurpleKnight is a big ice hockey fan as well over there in the UK!

Buggirl - welcome and let's do this! We are all in this together, let's get through it!

Saturday morning here in my neck of the woods. Up at 5am and watched the sunrise with a cup of coffee and a clear head.

I play a team sport every Saturday and after the game everyone hangs around for many hours drinking and socialising. I'll just say I have to drive today - thats much easier than trying to explain to 50 guys why I don't have a beer in my hand.

Friends birthday party on Sunday. This will be more difficult to explain why I'm not drinking as we are a very close group that meet (and drink) regularly and this will be the third weekend in a row that I haven't had any alcohol. I am not ready to talk to them about my situation yet, I think I'll just say "I don't feel like it".

Have a good productive weekend guys.

Oh don't get me started on Newcastle, it's just another episode of the soap opera that is Newcastle Utd! Wouldn't surprise me at all if we were in a relegation fight come the end of the season. Who do you support from across the pond?

Ah yes I remember purpleknight on the Stanley Cup playoffs thread last year

Hi Changeling, good Saturday morning to you. I understand not wanting to talk with the guys yet. A couple of my college buddies and their wives are coming over tomorrow afternoon. I don't mind if they want to drink ,but but it's not my idea of fun to discuss this particular struggle with them just yet. If questioned, I'm going to let them know that I've really gotten into my workouts/weights etc. and am following a pretty strict diet now...all of which is true. Hope you're able to enjoy the party and that job search is going well.

Ar, yes! Diet - good idea. You mind if I use that one also? Enjoy your weekend too.

Happy birthday to me!!!

Just ate three magnums while watching a movie.

Brought my Grandma shopping earlier...we were buying stuff for the "party" on Sunday...I wasn't deemed capable of choosing a decent turkey by myself

I am home listening to the rain pounding the windows, with candles, camomile tea and the stack of birthday books I gifted myself

Tomorrow, pancakes and sausages for brekkie and cake tomorrow and Sunday...diet starts Monday I swear!

I have a job interview on Monday also.

So...34 is off to a promising start!

Hope you all have a great weekend

My cat was shocked to find that not only was it raining out the back door, but it was raining out the front door as well!
Not very happy right now.

Friday is done!!!!
Just a little bit of work at the old job tomorrow and then I will be home for the rest of the weekend.
A friend gave me a recipe for pumpkin chili. That will make good use of my over abundance of butternut squash.

I hope everyone is well!

Happy birthday Tetra! Glad you're off to a good start. Many of us wish we started our 34th year in such good shape, congrats!!!!

Funny cat story Olive. My old cat got wise to the old "front door weather = back door weather" routine after a while. He was a city cat and gained some street smarts over the years, he survived various skirmishes with racoons, neighbors, and cars and lived until he was 14. He was well behaved inside the house except for Christmas, whenever we put up a tree he'd go nuts and brought it down with a crash many times. He was a tabby cat so we just called him Tabby and that worked. In his golden years he took it easy and loved to sit on the radiator in the winter and watch the squirrels and birds at the backyard feeder. I miss having a pet! But my free-wheelin' lifestyle just doesn't fit.

So I am going for the kind of pets that fit me now - plants! I'm going to the big nursery/plant store here in town and going to buy some flowers and palms for my terrace tomorrow morning. It's the rainy season so it's a great time to have some outdoor plants soak up plenty of water in a new location. I hope to have my deck covered in green by this time tomorrow!

Happy Birthday, Tetra!

BigS - I love that you have made the life that you want for yourself! It's very inspiring and good for you for planning the holidays on YOUR terms.

Mecanix: congrats on the Kia Soul. Maybe you should drive to the sea this weekend. Not sure what the weather is doing in the UK.

Hello to everyone here!

I came home hungry after dropping our son off at a roller skating party. I made a bowl of shredded pot roast, Bavarian green beans and rice sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Just what I needed. I got a new cookbook called Salad Samurai and I want to make at least one salad this weekend.

Finn is doing great. I will have to take him for a long walk tomorrow up at the lake and see what he thinks of water. The weather is supposed to be wonderful this weekend, cool at night but warm during the day.

Stay strong weekenders!

Charleesavedme, this is the kind of weather we long for in late July , August, and most of September here in Deep South. It's absolutely my favorite time of the year
Bigsombrero, you need to post a pic of your terrace when it's done. I really enjoy creating an oasis in my back lawn.

Happy Birthday Tetra! Ah to be 34 again!

Dinner was amazing... had the tasting menu. Everything was perfect. The service was great.

The Portland Museum of Art is free every Friday evening so went a walked... the exhibit was English painters from the 1500 and 1600's. Lord and Lady Douche... Always impressed with what people can do with paint.

A friend works the security there... has the ear phone like the FBI but less flashy. I saw Estes last and that man can paint!

Life sober does not even compare to life drunk. Noticed the older lady had two martini's before her meal came and wine during. I had too many meals I don't remember or was drunk by the time the food arrived.

I did not forget the Pear Tree drink recipe. I will post tomorrow.

K

Weasel - I agree with you about not missing those days when I didn't even taste my food because I was so foggy from the drinks. The room would get too loud and I would realize I crossed the line (again). I will be forever grateful that those days are in the past. Glad you enjoyed your tasting menu.

I'm off to pick up my son from his skating party. No need to worry about how much I had to drink or if I am okay to drive. No keeping an eye out for police. That doesn't get old either.

Good Company

We ran Errands down in the Big City, and had some Sushi Rolls for Lunch in the amazing Weather. Da Wife just came prancing outside in a new Top/light Jacket she got at the Farm and Ranch Store where I picked up a Camp Trailer Electrical Connector. Quite fetching with some low-key Glitter in it. She B. Stylin'.

Took a nice Cellphone Pic of a Deer Herd, but these Pix are suddenly to large to upload to here; even when size-edited. Gots to figger out wazzup with that.

Greetings to any/all Noobs. I'm fond of the Strategies being laid out in advance to duck out of dicey situations, and to always have that Escape Route planned. Still critical for me to do so IF I'm the only non-Drinker at small Dinners. STILL don't prefer that situation, but I get by.

Happy Birthday to Tetra! You don't look A DAY over 35! This comment explains my 'success' with Women over the years.

Don't be hangin' with any 'Bad Company' this Weekend, eh? The 2nd Guitarist is Howard Leese; original Member and Arranger/Director for 'Heart'.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes

As my friend said to me earlier: "don't worry Tetra, older women are still hot!"
