Give a little, take a little - sober weekend 3/14-16
Feeling the peace and serenity right now of being sober. Generally at this time on a Saturday night I would be in to the second bottle of wine. Instead I cooked dinner tonight and am home with my family. There is no chaos or urgency, no anger and resentments. The need to light up a weekend with evening drinking antics has dimmed considerably. All is good right now.

week 2 for me, If I didnt have to do breath tests I probably would be drunk right now. I am just so bored and lonely I literally been sitting in my house all day. I dont know what to do without booze. I need a hobby but you gotta have money for that. Its easy to get drunk with no money for some reason.
Hope everyone is doing great on their sober weekend (or even their sober 5 minutes)
That was a great tip for me-just surf through the urge to drink-the craving is usually fairly short if you can ride it out. I've stopped for quite awhile now, but I use that every time temptation rears its ugly head.
I also find just acknowledging out loud that I might want a drink but don't intend to have one helps me a lot. We were joking to my mom's doctor that maybe we would give her some shots to relax her back. He started sharing some drink recipes. I had to agree they sounded great, because they honestly did, but followed it up by saying "but I won't be making any of them-gave it up-drink one for me". It somehow supports good decision making or something.

Well the weather warmed up. I didn't ride my bike though .....
I went on a 4 mile walk along the river with my wife It was great with the river full to the brim. The rushing water sound was very nice. Came home and made a nice dinner an am getting the pizza dough ready for dinner tomorrow night.
What a great sober Day 9.

So, I know it's been said before on here, but right now a little over 2 weeks sober, sugar (root beer) is helping with the cravings. I've also decided that getting out of the house helps me.
Went to a picnic with some "normie" friends tonight and it was great! I told my buddy that my Dr. has me on a diet (true) and that I'm not drinking alcohol (also true), but felt a little guilty not telling him outright that I've quit.
How do you all handle telling (or not telling) your "normie" friends?

I've just come straight out with it. I thought it would be harder to tell people but I really believe that since I've made such a good decision, I care less what people think about it and my friends have been incredibly supportive! I told them I don't drink anymore and told them why if they asked from there.
Goooood morning weeeeekenders!
Heading to the gym and the I signed up for a painting class today. I have never painted. Quite artistic with a variety of things but never paint. They provide everything I just show up and the class paints the same thing that the teacher has upfront. It's a spiritual painting class. A meditation in the beginning to get you" feeling" it. Lol we shall see.
The best part is it gets me through the toughest part of the day.
Good to see so much positive support and comments on the weekender! That's what it's all about right!

Morning Weasel and fellow weekenders!
One more cup of coffee then I will be getting out there for a long walk to a new farmers' market. They're quite the thing in London right now and I plan to buy some tasty treats for the family. See you later x

It's my birthday today and I am five days sober. I've read a chapter of the Big Book, opened my lovely gifts and about to go out and enjoy the sunshine with my fiance. London is beautiful today!
I am keeping my 24 hour chip in my pocket as I will be eating out for the first time without drinking!
