Give a little, take a little - sober weekend 3/14-16
Give a little, take a little - sober weekend 3/14-16
This weekend's theme is simple.
Give a little - share what works for you when Fridays hit hard and Sunday seems years away. Let's help newcomers with new ideas or twists on old ones.
Take a little - it's ok to post about how you feel. Maybe ask for a kind word or advice. Even lurking and reading may let you take a little with you this weekend.
Let's do this !

I have been starting the weekend thread later Thursday for this in the UK and beyond in the time zones.

Friend coming over to help me get my Jeep ready for offroading season on Saturday. Friend coming over Sunday to hang out for a bit.
How about you?
I'm not off to a good Friday night start. I think I'm being hit by a triple wammy - 1. Low blood sugar, hungry as hell - 2. Heard and old flame from my alkie days has met someone - 3. Friday night loneliness!
Not a lot planned. Usual stuff. I am trying to lose the weight I gained drinking. So the gym tomorrow, sat and Sunday. Have tomorrow off. Seems I tend to find things to keep me busy.
Not a lot of friends as I just moved back to Maine. Everyone I knew drank so I have not restarted those friendships. Not easy to make new without using a bar to do it.
Maine has a great mud season. In fact we have winter, mud season, a week of spring, two weeks of summer, and bam! Fall. Lol
How many weekends is this for you?

Hey looking.... Good to see you. Those things can be a bad way to start a weekend. But a worse way to end one is with a hangover. No old flame is worth giving that to yourself.
I guess I am lonely too. I use the weekender to kind of buffer that. So glad you are here. Helps me stay strong.

2. Don't let an ex screw with your head or sobriety.
3. You're not alone! We're all here!

I don't have many friends since I lied and hurt most of them while drinking.
I actually try to stay away from the mud. We go play in the trees. Lots of foothills of Mt. Rainier.
This will be my second sober weekend and I'm feeling great! Still having some issues with the dizziness and disembodied feeling, which just kinda throws me for a loop. I'm being patient while my body heals itself. I was so mean to it.
Great post to start this thread, Weasel. It seems so long ago when Friday afternoons felt like something was missing without booze. It's only been 14 months for me and gone are the thoughts of stopping at a bottle shop after work. Fun weekend plans are on my mind instead of getting wasted and wondering how bad the hangovers will be. For anyone struggling please know that with time sober becomes the normal you. It's worth it.
Hey y'all friday morning in the UK 5:30 am
Just about to do the coffee ritual been really busy in the new job lots to do . the odd phone call from my old work (one of my clients now) asking for information so i'm being diplomatic and slightly cagey with what i know . If you want me to fix things you got to pay me and my firm .
I never take sobriety for granted every sober day is a gift to try and get it right today . I seem wealthy with friends on SR this is such a positive site , everyone trying to make the change for the better .
I'm of into the city of london today , mecanix in the big city , Wooo ! then i'm meeting mex-m8 this weekend .
Got to take mum shopping later, do my son duties .
All peaceful for the moment , long may it last .
Bestwishes, m

Hi weasel, count me in.
What works for me is I don't want to become that dependant drunk I was, who lived, breathed, thought drink constantly.
Good thought, spring is here and all the birds are chirruping outside, the robin is cheeky and taps on my window if the food runs out, he's got me well trained, I rush out and replenish all the bird tables, hangers.

Don't hang out with the usual drinking friends. I've planned my Friday night and the rest of my weekend to spend with friends that don't drink. The rest of the weekend I'm with my husband & daughter whom neither drink. Fill my time up working early sat & sun mornings also, so no room for hangovers. Wake up early feeling great; that would never happen if I were boozing. It was a life of hell.
