Thankyou.
Todays my sons birthday he's 17 years old. Its hard to take in but exciting for him. I remember my own surprisingly and it involved a lot of alcohol. My friends were older than me so i used to get away without being asked for ID but that was the 80s for you, not much heed taken back then on your age. This will be my 3rd time celebrating sober with him and enjoying the evening. Time just flies, i can see that from yesterday's number, i was surprised myself to see this number.

Oh, wow, huge Congrats on that 800 days sober, AL.

And, yeah, 17 was drunken for me, too... I would bet, don't really remember! Legal drinking age was 18 back then and I had been going to bars for three years. Not to mention stealing my parents' booze, hanging out with older kids and just generally running amok.

Not all great memories, but not all bad either. I was addicted from the very first time I took a drink.

Congratulations AL on 800 days of sobriety.

I remember my 17th birthday too. Two weeks earlier I'd started working in my first job after leaving school and took a day off work to spend some of my first wage packet (the job was weekly - and weakly! - paid). Thankfully, it wasn't to drink as at the time I rarely drank.

yikes, I googled "running amok" to see if I spelled that correctly and I learned it is about losing one's mind and committing some violent act!

That is not what I meant!

I am a danged 1960s Flower Child, fer goodness sake.

I was just a Wild & Unsupervised (Pacifist) Flower Child.

Happy Birthday, AL Junior.

I didn't know the real meaning of the words either Biminiblue we still use it here for kids running around getting up to mischievous things.
On another i was on my walk to work when i saw this man made reflection on the water from probably 30000 feet. I wonder where it was landing.

Yesterday's Astronomy Picture of the Day had this written in its description, which seemed very much like the description of a heavy drinker....

"Stars like WR 40 live fast and die young in comparison with the Sun."

Cool pic:

Been absent from AL’s thread of late I like the NASA pic and one liner, Bimini. We spend a lot of money looking at distant galaxies, and even I as a science teacher sometimes ask why. That star is 16000 light years away. If we went to WR20 today and could see Earth, the view would be from the year 14000BC! It’s far away, and I’m not really sure we need to know all this 🤣 I much prefer the Earth’s movement around the sun, its tilt that causes the seasons and the fact the Earth moves slightly faster in January. I enjoy teaching that geeky stuff but less so about a distant galaxy moving away or towards us.

AL, big congratulations on the 800 days! And happy birthday to your son. I'll bet it will mean so much to your kids that you've been there for them, sober.

What a night😁 great excitement, my son and i went on to see Ireland win. Down to the last 2 minutes of play before an Ireland penalty gave them the win. A great great night.

Thankyou guys, the 800 days of being sober is the best thing I've ever done for me and my family. Got to keep it going and will work on it everyday.

im exausted after the big game. I just cant do after10pm anymore. I feel dizzy and a little disorientated today, good in a way as it reminds me of how bad it was every day only with the added headache and sickness.
Still managed a walk early and a fix job i had to do in a customers house, my non answering phone guy is still on the missing list, i was back doing some manual work and im not used to it anymore to be fair, i do hope he's ok.
Yachts are starting to arrive in the harbour again. Summer must be on the way but there are talks of a very cold spell coming from met eireann our weather experts. My wife is hoping for the 2018 beast from the east snow storm again.

I really hope to get through the rest of this winter with no more snow and no power outages.

Sounds like you had fun at the game. No hangover, that's the best part.

Yes Robbie but i have to keep my emotions neutral when they play. Having a french wife make the six nations a tough one every year in this household.😆.
Just have to keep up the momentum now. We always seem to be at our best just before the world cup and then its a disappointing experience when we get there.

Oh, yes, I forgot about your wife being French! That would certainly make it a bit awkward at home if you were to start celebrating too much! 😃🏉

Sunday morning walk, was going to go kayaking but it was a bit too cold and rough for it unfortunately. Wifes baking a cake at the moment and it smells delicious. Shes off to France tomorrow with my son for midterm so home alone for a week. I would have used this as an opportunity to drink myself stupid before but instead i will be training and walking a little more than usual.

One of my favorite threads was Ann's Elders Meditations. I still read them every day. Today's fits perfectly with your image. You are such a good example of this new life we choose. Sunday Blessings.

Elder's Meditation of the Day February 12

"The spirit still has something for us to discover - an herb, a sprig, a flower - a very small flower, maybe you can spend a long time in its contemplation, thinking about it."
~Lame Deer, LAKOTA

The world today is about hurry up! Get there faster! Work harder, produce more, hurry up, eat quickly, be on time, don't get stressed - headaches, conflict, drink to calm down, go to training on stress management, time management - STOP! STOP! Go spend five minutes with a flower or a plant. Look at it - think about it - look at its beauty, smell it, close your eyes and smell it again. Touch it; touch with your eyes closed. Listen to it; listen to it with your eyed closed. Slow your mind down. Think about the little things. Now close your eyes and pray.

Great Spirit, this feeling of calmness that I have, let me have it all day long.
