Yes almost always calm in the morning. So tempting.
I remember my visits to San Francisco now you mention it, it was pretty windy most if the time when we went to Fishermans wharf and all the other tourist stuff.

How beautiful

I recently re-watched Forest Gump. Great movie, it's very emotional though. As a person of a certain age it's kind of a time-capsule of my own youth in so many ways.

It's not even light here yet this morning but I love those colorful sunrises (4:20AM here.)

Looks like a really beautiful morning there, AL.

I'm out camping for a couple nights on the coast not too far from where I live. Here's the view from my campsite:

Thinking of paddling, but might just birdwatch ... it's a chilly day.

Thank you all it was a beautiful morning and day it was even brightish leaving work this evening.
Tursiops if i told my wife we were going camping she'd leave me🤣. Id love it myself. We did it in France years ago and before that was Yosemite in the 90s with my brother, my wife refused to go and went to Santa Barbara with the girls instead. Hotel or nothing im afraid.

I live on a river and about two miles away is a large heron rookery...I frequently see herons just out my window or on my own walks. They're so very good at acting like a statue until - FISH!!!!

Lovely pic. I hope your day is fantastic.

Wow thats amazing biminiblue. We had the Aurora a few times here on the south coast of Ireland but nothing as spectacular as that. It dosen't happen very often unfortunately and then theres the clouds that frequent us here more than often🙃 that usually prevent us from seeing it.

I’m a few days out of sync 🤣 but the Wednesday morning pics are breathtaking, AL 👍 I went out (by car) at 7am, and it was still dark and cloudy. No nice views here.

Thanks Zura. Hodd it was funny watching people running that morning like me none of us were looking where we were going all looking sideways in one direction at the glorious sunrise.
Today wasn't anything like it but to see that bit of blue sky now at about 7.45am, oh yes very satisfying. Its starting to get bright a little bit earlier over here.

Bim, what a beautiful photo! I'd love to see the northern lights someday.
AL, I confess I don't camp in a tent anymore. I now have a campervan, with a proper bed, a small supply of running water, a small fridge, and ... a little heater for cold nights, that runs off the gas tank (luxury!!). I doubt I'd get out much if I had to sleep on the ground, now that I'm older (60).
Love that heron pic with the lavender and yellow.

I went for a stand-up paddle on my little camping excursion. The tide was very low, and harbor seals were out sunning themselves on a sandbar:

Im jealous Tursiops. Paddle boards and a camper thats my retirement plan in 14 years time if not sooner. My wife would get onboard with the campervan thats real camping luxury. I follow camper life on Instagram and drool over some of those campers. Hope you are having a great time. Ireland is so small really, your camping while Free is Skiing ⛷. Hard to imagine so many different climates in one country.

Caught sight of a male bullfinch this morning a beautiful bird colourful plump not much of a singing bird but makes up for it in how it looks.

I walk on a bit further and get to the marsh and see the remains of a Swan and look on dissapointed that it was killed but thats nature the fox had its meal and went home with its belly full.
I often see the fox at night hunting on the strand when the tide is out and have seen them catch seagulls, crows and so on but how has my brain been trained to feel sorry for this swan while seeing it as a triumph when the fox catches another bird.
Makes me think about the comments i get now of praise for my weight loss how im looking (all welcome of course) but what did they say 2 years ago, of course never to me personally. Only my doctor was brave enough for that . Another thought provoking subject for one of my walks.

I used to be over-weight and I had the opposite complaint, "My doctor never said a word to me about being obese!"

I spend a lot of time outside and see all kinds of animals doing what Nature requires them to do. There are also a lot of human-caused wildlife deaths...fishing line, nets, hitting power lines, wind turbines, etc.

Ashes to ashes.

Here's an uplifting story to take your mind away from the swan.

My username is related to a life-changing wild dolphin encounter in the Bahamas with this excursion company. (I didn't meet the dog. They just send videos from time to time.)

It's magical to swim with a pod of wild dolphins who only come out of friendship and curiosity. No food or other enticements. They just come.
