Nice 10km today with my daughter who was waiting at her grandparents house for us to arrive. So peaceful here sunshine and no noises only a bit of wind and the birds. We saw deer, eagles and a hare, and had a great chat. Just lovely.

Another glorious sunny day. Went of road today and at one point i thought i was lost but no its the online map, it was a great help in one way but showing some overgrown woodland roads that were impossible to walk through were the ones giving me the problems. Found my way back to the house so that was the main thing. I was on my last bottle of water so just as well. Hope you all have a great week.

Got up early this morning and then went back to bed after having my breakfast 😁. Holidays are great. I was glad i did get up for that time as i had a decaffeinated coffee and watched the sun come up. Still did my walk in the heat and drank a lot of water spent the rest of the day chilling out in the shade reading. Good day today. Also its our wedding anniversary today 20years and still going strong. We were going to have a night away but decided not to with our son being unwell but theres an improvement there he's on the play station so he must be getting better.

Nice hike again today and did a bit of shopping for food. I will get to go to the market tomorrow and im looking really forward to it. The fresh produce the smells everything is great except my daughter dosent think much of the meat stands as some will have horse products but every country is different.
So today a field was being cut by the farmer and i stood and watched buzzards fly for a while and watching them hunt for prey. Phone camera so the the little black dots in the photo i took are the birds.

Happy Bastille day to you.
Walk through the forest today, Papi dropped me off a nice drive from the house and more or less said off you go, should take you 2 hours to get home. I felt like a homing pigeon finding my way back but once i came out onto a road i was fine as remote as it is the routes are indicated well. I've said before i like being on my own at times but this was really being alone, no-one or nothing for kilometres only trees. I did enjoy it even feeling a little bit nervous incase i got lost 🙂.

I have a complaint to the management 🙂

Why’s this thread been moved from Newcomers?

Rant over. I promise to behave. Glad you’re doing well and having a nice break, Al 👍

The stumps with the bowl haircuts are cool!
I need to find somewhere like that to walk.

Hodd you got to pay attention man!
Management has cleared this with AL a while back. 😅

Good to see you Hodd.
Thats true FK . When i saw it i was thinking of the now gone Irish men of Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott or Dunliners Luke Kelly, fine heads of hair🦱
Two great talents gone to early in life. One was metal and one traditional. Ive no real favourite as i listen to all kinds of music.

Went to a lake today theres a lovely walking, running, mountain bike trail around it. Its a man made lake with a beach just lovely.
I had my wedding in the little village next to it when my father in law was the mayor and he officiated the ceremony. It was a right boozy occasion 🤫 lets just say the irish and french got along great and enjoyed themselves too much.
Thank goodness those days are over and instead these days walking is my fix. I'm went around the lake twice and a bit for a 10k.

Definitely more woodland walks on the cards when i get home.

Spectacularly beautiful area, AL. Fantastic woodland walks you're taking - looks so amazing, had to look it up on the map!

So glad you're enjoying it and your son is on the mend. And congrats on 20 years with your wife!

Extra late check in. Dropped my daughter to the airport to go back to Ireland so spent a lot of time driving. Didn't get a walk in but did a lot of shopping. So heres the moon 2 nights ago, full and a black and white for a change , lovely looking out the bedroom window

I must start bringing a diary or notebook of some kind with me as when walking or when listening to podcasts, my brain sometimes goes into overdrive and i might have come up with something or heard a great quote and so on but its forgotten by the time i get home, i hate it as at the time i felt i could relate to that particular story. Annoying it is.
I've a good excuse today im tired and cranky after the driving yesterday. One of those days when my own company is all i want regardless of everyone being so nice around me. Sleep is the answer so i might take a nap this evening.
So there is an orange heat warning today so did an early walk through woods and meadows the farmers are working on getting ready for winter, you can see the round hay bales popping up in every field. Its a pity but necessary for the cattle.

I guess cows don't get sunburn

I was supposed to be doing a sprint triathlon yesterday, but recent covid and laziness meant I acted as a "marshall" making sure runners didn't take a wrong turn. Just standing there was hot enough, and I could see a few competitors struggling. I ran the last 2km in my flipflops to encourage a few stragglers. My clubmates all had a beer in plastic glasses under the blazing midday sun. To be fair, that'd be their only drink of the day, the week probably, but I made excuses and left for a shadier alternative.
