Just looked at my sober counter app. It is about to tick over to 200 hours. (8.33 days). So… I’m in my ninth day sober. Feeling ok physically.
Will probably check out the site from my blog (daily breakdown on recovery)

Nice, warm, sunny autumn here. Leaves are turning. Beautiful.

Yes and I do try the banana or yogurt tricks too. And it helps, but then afterwards I sometimes still want more… But it’s definitely a work in progress. I’m getting there, one day at a time. Trying to go for the “good” sugars rather than lollies, biscuits and cakes. The ever present lollie jar at work doesn’t help…. I try to ignore it, with varying success

oh yeah, I agree! I’m munching on strawberries right now lol

Well done TC!

The cure is moving to America Willow, where the good lollies no longer exist. Well, they cost a fortune from an Aus food shop.....so I don't buy them often.

Awesome stuff dear TC !!

I just briefly looked into the Keto diet. Looks interesting.
There is no way in early sobriety that I would seek this. (I think they refer to your body being in a state of ketosis).

The food list looks good though: meats, poultry, eggs, veggies, nuts and cheese.
I love my hard cheese.

Give me a steak and a plate of fried cabbage any day. Or a beef patty topped with cheese and onion!!!
I like spinach and Brussel sprouts so I could do this.

Getting off the carbs would be a big adjustment. I eat bread with almost everything. Love my potato chips (crisps) at night.

Anyway, I’m happily sober today. I wish everyone a peaceful day too!

Glad you’re doing ok TC
I have looked at keto too, but oh the carbs call to me all the time….
I really need to reduce them though.

Suze I knew there was no good bread in the US, but no good lollies?
Maybe I should move there…..

Well for 2 days I haven’t had any bread or lollies or biscuits or cake…
I have been eating lowish carb (but not keto).
I generally have porridge for breakfast, except on the weekends it’s eggs and mushrooms and fried tomatoes (I cut out the toast recently… I adore toast with butter…)
Lunch is generally fish and salad or chicken and veggies, often with some sweet potato as well as lots of greens and carrots. Often avocado too.
Dinner is usually chicken or salmon with veggies. Snacks are nuts, fruit, yogurt.

So I generally eat a very healthy diet. It’s just the extra sugary treats on top of my healthy diet that I need to ditch.

Living with a couple of extreme sweet tooth’s doesn’t help, there’s always chocolate, biscuits, cake, lollies and icecream in the house! If I lived alone, I would just not have it in the house. It’s usually the evening after dinner when I want to snack unhealthily. It’s the time of day when I used to be drinking too, so I’m sure it’s all tied together. I try to keep busy or go to bed early lol.

I’m away out bush for the weekend, offline, so I hope you all have a lovely weekend

Hope you have a lovely time love. s

To be honest....I have way more sweet food and snacks in the house here than I ever did in Australia. But I don't eat any of it....I cannot handle sweet stuff anymore. Menopause did something to me....I knew it would mess with my metabolism, and other than that and being overweight I had no problem with it. And not wanting chocolate anymore is not that bad....I can survive that.

Oh I could do with not wanting chocolate anymore lol I’ve done/doing the menopause thing but unfortunately my sweet tooth didn’t go away!
I can actually remember having a sweet tooth since forever. As a little girl, my Mum didn’t let us have lollies all the time, but we did get pocket money once a week. 20 cents. And later it went up to 50 cents. Well I pretty much spent all my pocket money on lollies. I was a sugar addict way back in primary school. In my teens it switched to alcohol. Now that I’ve removed alcohol from the equation, the sugar addiction is back. So I am working on that….

Gotta dash. Have a great weekend guys! ❤️

So Australian lollies = candy in US? I was thinking at first it was lollipops (or suckers as they are called here). My wife has a stash of gummy bears i raid but thats about it. M&m's are a weakness if they are around. The sugar wipes me out though, i end up taking a nap after too nuch.

have a good camping trip Willow!

It’s a beautiful autumn day!
It is great to be sober!

I’m going to do a bit of polishing on my truck. I’ll change spark plugs and test the compression.

I asked Kristi if, on Saturday, she’d like to canoe a little lake that we love. She might, but has had rotator cuff issues.
Forecast is for warm weather. High of 25C (77F).

I hope you all a have decent and peaceful, sober, day.

Oh, sorry just realised you asked a question nmd.
The answer is pretty much yes, but the candy in Aus is totally different ....even the m&m s are different. Different chocolate.
Everything here is WAY too sweet for me.

Lovely TC....gorgeous weather here too. I just put out my last new petunias....four red ones....and they are shimmering in the sun
And I hope you get to go rowing with your wife. s

My dad will be in hospital for at least another month. His sepsis infection has been successfully treated but no indication yet how severe the long-term effects will be. He is still sedated and not entirely self-aware. They are starting to take him off some medications so that should make a difference. A lengthy rehabilitation period will follow soon.

Still can't believe my dad's drinking got to the point he went into alcohol withdrawal while fighting sepsis. He saw me at my worst and drove me to rehab 10 years ago. Also witnessed my mother's alcoholism for 30 years.

I'm quite miserable but no danger of drinking. I'm expecting more bad news to come so need to be sober. Have a good weekend everyone!

Alcoholism resists logic tho I think WL.
I had alcoholics in my family - I still took up drinking.

Hi everyone, I had a lot of good reading here this morning, thanks! I'm trying healthy eating, too, and I do think the sugar plays a part in the addiction. I like the half water, half juice idea.
Have fun on your trip, Willow! It sounds wonderful.
TC, congrats on 10 days!! That's just awesome. I hope you get to go rowing, too.
I'm meeting Greg, my soon to be boss, for lunch tomorrow. There are now seven covid cases at the place I'm planning to go to work. I'm really concerned. Only one of the cases is an unvaccinated person. We'll talk about it tomorrow. I'm glad Greg is a friend, if I were meeting a new boss I didn't know, I would hesitate to bring up my concerns.
I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the weekend.
