One Year & Over Part 81
Right back atcha, PJ!
I have met so many inspirational people since I've been in recovery. Something about a fellow addict/alcoholic that makes it out and is willing to share. We truly are the lucky ones!
My brother should get his June work schedule this week, so we can finally pick a weekend for our get-together.
Have a Marvelous Monday, overs!

Happy Monday!
Baby steps, but exciting news - I lost my first 5lbs since I started tracking weight! I’m thrilled.
As I was making dinner last night, I realized that we are all trying to eat better and may want to know about the website skinnytaste.
I like it bc it has all the recipes set up for different diets so that it’s easy to find the ones that work for your eating style, and many are simple/quick with fresh ingredients. (I think she does Latin American recipes best, which is perfect for CA as the Mexican grocery is the cheapest and has the freshest ingredients - this may make it harder in other parts of the world though)
Happy Monday everyone!

Hello Overs,
Don't know where to share this so here it will be.
I had a diabetes diagnostic a month ago and I have a whole new routine to learn.
One new point is I have to clean my fingertip with a 70% isopropyl alcohol prep pad before puncture it with a lancet and squeeze a drop of blood onto a test strip.
I've discovered that the smell of alcohol is a violent trigger that makes me think at vodka like if I had a full glass in front of me.
Frightening...
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks

I asked you at the time dear CB....you may not have seen the post....so it is Diabetes Type 1 love? s
I have heard of some new ways to check your blood glucose every day that do not require the finger pricking....not going to trust google.
I am going to actually find out and get back to you.
We are here for you love....and with you always. ❤️

I think I will stick to soap and water Dee, thanks for the advice
Venus, I'm type 2 and very close to pre-diabetes.
I don't have to check my blood sugar level at that stage but I'm curious to see the numbers so I have a look here and there.

Good Morning Overs
CK, I’d stick with soap and water too. When I’ve had injections at the hospital some nurses use the wipes and some just go ahead and inject me. I always take a shower before I went.
SE, well done on the weight loss, thanks for the web site, I’ll check it out. I need my ‘get up and go’ to kick in.
Wet and dull today. But it’s looking good for the rest of the week.
Have a good Tuesday my friends be safe xxxx

Talked to my brother last night and we've finally set our trip to Winona for the weekend of June 12th! We've literally been talking about doing this trip for several years now. Will finally be nice to spend some quality time together. Even though he's six years older, we were really close growing up and have a lot of fond memories to share. I'm also trying to set up a meeting with an old college friend that I haven't seen in 30+ years. I had a bit of a crush on her back then and she's still quite a looker, but alas she's now happily married. Still would be nice to see her again after all these years.
Have a Terrific Tuesday, overs!

Congrats on the successful start to your post-baby weight loss, SE!
CK, that’s a bummer. For me personally, I think of alcohol as the lazy person’s solution to washing with soap and water. Happy to hear you are staying on top of it (both diabetes and smell trigger). The more you learn and take care of it now, the better off you will be. Just my opinion!
Suze, yes you are right - there is a little device that stays on for some days that measures glucose but it still requires washing or alcohol to be placed every week or two. (How do I know that? I had type 2 for a number of years and have to be careful or it could return. So very important to watch my diet - no sugary drinks - I drink only water and black coffee, very limited sweet stuff, etc).
Hi Mags, Andy, FBL, Dee and everyone. Have a good day

SE, good to hear that you are getting a bit more sleep. Sending you strength and endurance for all this. Man oh man, that baby/toddler era is tough.
I'm enjoying having some kid energy around to help with my doldrums as well as all the house projects.
