One Year & Over Part 81
Laptops are more durable than expected. Our one at work has had coffee dumped on it, drippy food left overnight on top of it, and it is exposed to extreme temperature variations. Yet, like us, it lumbers on.
Have a good day all!
Have a good day all!
Somehow as I get older I am beginning to see that in every stage of my life there have been both challenges and joys. None of these feel like reruns. It took me a very long time to learn to ride with it a bit instead of fighting.
PJ, it sounds like you have unique laptops, - one wanted to drink coffee and the other had an urge to be decorated in black!
Have a lovely Sunday, friends

Hi all! We are doing great here. I am in my eleventh year of voluntary for life sobriety. No cravings or wishing I could drink. I've decided to still drop in from time to time but other than friendship I have little to offer.
However, I could not have done it without you guys. My friends and sobriety family. For my friends in the U.S. or out who observe it, here is my tribute to the memory of those who gave all.
Memorial Day
Begun in 1866 to honor Civil War Combatants, it was later expanded to honor all brave men and women who served this country in all wars.
Between cookouts, picnics, vacations and sales, Memorial Day may be losing its meaning!
Please take one minute, at 3 PM local time on Memorial Day to Remember and honor those brave men and women, who paid the piper that we may dance.
A Day to Remember
By Itchy
They gave their all, their lives, and the futures they held dear,
They left behind a legacy of sadness and of tears.
A folded flag, the sound of Taps, the pride mixed in their leaving,
With heads held high, and tears in eye, the loved ones still are grieving.
Remember them.
Went in harm's way, so young, and they never will grow older,
Leaving memories, and pictures, citations in a folder.
They left their sons, their little girls, to grow up wondering why,
Their daddy that they loved so well, went off to war to die.
Remember them.
For some it changed, and mother, was the casualty of war,
The arms that hugged them never would again, forevermore.
Yet all were sons and daughters, and left behind an ache,
In the hearts of those, whose turn should come, before their children's wake.
Remember them.
They rest in peace, some say, and who am I to doubt it?
The higher purpose it was served, the enemy was routed.
Some came home, some never went, some only watched the news,
But they will never hold their child, or argue current views.
Remember them
It wasn't meant, in leaving, when they all marched off to war,
That we'd be left without them, from the cannon's deadly roar.
I'm sure that they, would rather, have been here for all of us,
But someone had to fight those wars, someone pay the cost.
Remember them
At 3 PM, this Monday, my flag will fly half mast,
As all across the nation, floats the somber sound of Taps.
It's only for one minute, or maybe three or four,
In tears, I will remember, those who died in every war.

Good Morning Overs
Good to see you itchy. Your poem is beautiful, very poignant. I will always remember those who never came back and fought for us. 💜
I’ve run out of wild bird food. A family of young starlings with their mum have been feeding ravenously. Fortunately I have other smaller bird house feeders so the Robin, sparrows, finches and other small birds can get food. I’ll get some more when shop opens.
Have a mindful Monday my friends, be safe xxxx

good one Itch
that was the last 2 laptops...the third landed with a bang facedown as I tripped on the chord...it has a disability...and the first laptop my bro gave me when I was in hospital to watch dvd's....his daughters old school one. About 1000 dvd's later, It just died. DVD players have about the same life. I borrowed every DVD of interest to me in public libraries over a 70km area, thousands and thousands- to retrain my bain. I had to teach myself to read and write post burns, they thought I was going to be a very low functioning vegetable, such was the effect of trauma.

Ah Itchy so good to hear from you and thanks for the poem. It is a poignant day when you think of all the too-young men and women who died in wars. May we all fight for a world that doesn't demand such a terrible price in young people.
In my own struggle for things to be better, I ate an entire lovely dinner at the neighbors with an untouched glass of wine next to my plate. It wasn't bad although my host was a bit insistent that I drink it. Ah well. Another small hurdle in the journey to live a bit better.
Well I'm off to put away 5 things, clean the kitchen and fold laundry.
I have a week and a half ahead of me with lots of time and tons to do. Not something I deal with easily.

Bekind glad you didn’t touch the wine
Just been to the local market, I didn’t get any bird food yesterday :yike: they’re happy now though, all feeders filled up and birds feeding.
Have a good Tuesday my friends xxxx

Mags, if I were a bird I’d come stay at your feeder
Bekind, definitely either clueless or insensitive host. In my first few years sober I don’t know if I could have resisted.
I’m off to get much-needed hair cut soon and then infusion this afternoon. Have a good day to all.

Thanks for both the poem and your service, Itch!
I hit a new milestone in my weight loss journey. Now down 60 pounds! Even if I don't lose much more, I'm so happy where I'm at now. It's been a new lease on life, for sure!
Have a Terrific Tuesday, overs!

Good morning and happy first day of June. May always goes too fast for my taste while January and February go too slow . . . . ah well, yet another chance to accept life on life's terms . . . . if the perceived passage of time is my biggest problem then I'm one lucky duck.
So another day of solitude for me. I've run some water on the garden, hung a couple of pictures, done 10 min of yoga and texted a few folks.
Now off to clean a few deck boards in anticipation of staining them, put away a box of books and load up some recycle.
It is summer time and the living is what it is.
