Interesting Maria: I was going to suggest a trip to B.C.
Hope that turns out.

I can't take the punishment anymore. You would think a guy closing on 50 could wise up.
I feel bad for whining.

Wishing everyone a decent day.

Don't feel bad for whining dear TC. Withdrawal is awful. s

I asked you in a thread recently if you were OK....as in if everything is OK at home and such....not being intrusive.....no need to answer.....but we all care about you and wish to be there for you. ❤️

I was out for my daily walk today and passed by a protest in front of the provincial parliament building. BLM/Indigenous I gather based on the signs they held. The strange thing was that out of the group of 100 or so protesters, I didn't see a single black person. It was seemingly all white college age kids. Highly doubt their 'outrage' is authentic. Most of them probably still live with their parents haha.

Very hot and humid here. The 'dog days of summer' have arrived. A time of year where summer holidays allow for plenty of boozing. I guess I still feel the 'Fear of Missing Out' (FOMO) phenomenon. Everyone is off drinking as they relax by the pool or sitting on a dock on a lake. That's how I used to spend my summer holidays. I need to stop romanticizing the 'good' times and remember the misery that replaced them after.

WL: I can attest to the misery part. Awful stuff. No fun.

Venus thanks for inquiring. Things are a bit rough on the home front.

Hey friends!
I知 doing as well as can be expected with the current mess going on in Florida.

I知 not drinking, still no cravings. Possibly because my doctor called to check on all her patients and I mentioned anxiety. She put me on Prozac back in June and I知 still going through the fun (not!) part where you adjust to it. Side effects like dry mouth, insomnia, no appetite, increased anxiety and so on. I知 not sure it値l work for me but I知 willing to try for a few weeks.

We池e already on part 7 and I didn稚 even finish 6 yet ?!

Don't feel bad about sharing your bad feelings with us, TC. I have a lot of empathy for you, having gone through the same thing so very many times. Drink lots of water and if you can, take vitamins. So sorry the home front is not good, I wish I could help with that, too. Sending a big hug.
Kitten, it's great to hear from you. I've been on Prozac for about two months now. I didn't have side effects. I think I've gotten over a lot of my depression, though. Not all the way, but moving in the right direction.
WL, that is funny about the protesters. We can still relax by a pool or at the lake if we can manage to social distance while we're at it. The alcohol was not the good part, I don't think. It was the sun and water and having friends around. Even better with a pitcher of arnold palmers! In case that's an american thing, that's half lemonade and half iced tea. Delicious and doesn't make you sick.

Lovely to hear everyone's news this morning -

Really great to hear from you again Maria and Kitten. Great to know that you are doing well on the not-drinking front.
Maria - a trip away did me the world of good (albeit with challenges). I hope you can organise a holiday you will enjoy and give you a break from the monotony of Covid-life. Did I mention we saw whales on my last venture out? I can recommend coastal vacations, particularly in summer!
Kitten - hope the Prozac works for you soon. Not good that it is increasing your anxiety and the other side-effects.

TC - hang in there. Only a couple more days of absolute crap withdrawals. Keep posting and looking after yourself. These anonymous ears are good listeners!

Hugs to all....

Thanks for the entertaining ideas. I think I like the idea of a BBQ. Might ditch my original plan and make some salads, get some meat and bread rolls and keep in a simple affair. It is the middle of winter here, but the days are quite nice and very feasible to be out on the new deck! It is frustrating to be so anxious about entertaining and can't seem to look forward to company - hope that improves when I can relax and be me one day - always used alcohol to deal with these types of days.

Best start the day with cleaning the house and deck and starting to get everything organised.I still have 5 hours, so plenty of time to get my **** together.

I am still in shock over the fact that your doctor calls all of her patients to check on them kitten. Wow. Gold medal for her.

You will be fine Coz.....maybe potato salad and another salad and steaks and sausages, plus a fruit flan for dessert. Easy. And your husband can do the bbq part. A few different colours with serviettes and a tiny little thing of flowers in the middle of the table, and you are done. s xxxx

These anonymous ears really are great listeners. I love that Coz. I always wish I could post to everyone. It's hard on the phone and I very rarely go to the computer to read here. I think it's partly why I lurked so long here. But I think just reading has helped prepare me to get sober.

Sitting at 90 days today!

It's not funny but I was joking around in my head about how I would be the one to celebrate with a couple pints. 🙂🤣 Still a sick puppy...

Milestones are tricky. It messes with my mind. Can't wait to be on day 91.

My car has a breathilizer in it.
Not sure I should try it yet.
Big clouds looming, I’d like to get it in the garage.
I’ll wait, I think.

Thank you TC. 🙂 I honestly can't think about shooting for a certain number of days. I have done that in the past and start future tripping. I am honestly not super confident on making it to 200 days or some other large number. I want to be, but I know just how quick my whole psyche can shift. I thought I had sobriety licked in the past and it got me. I saw you mentioned being close to 50. I am 41 now and would love to be sober until 50. My kids would be grown! But I have to get through today. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Coz hope the BBQ goes well. I got a little nervous reading your description. Just like when you talked about your friend and the trip. I could imagine that being tough if there are expectations. I know you will be fine though! I think a cranberry spritzer drink sounds real good thats what I drink now. Club soda with lime, or cranberry or other juices. Get a nice glass and good to go! I like sweet tea and arnold palmers a lot too.

I have a black (for want of a better word) friend in LA who's scared to walk the streets alone, let alone protest right now, for fear of what might happen to them. Might be the same thing happening there?

I'm so white I make Frasier look funky - but the only thing stopping me physically protesting this and many other issues right now is COVID.

The best plan will probably be based on what else you can do with those things that plague you, TC?
