Rattle...So sorry to hear that you have been under the weather...Congrats on 24...hope you are feeling better!
Hoping...well done on day 6...enjoy your day off!
Venus...thank you...work was kind to me today!
My son and daughter are coming home tomorrow...super excited!!! We have not been together for over a year. My daughter just returned from a year long tour in the Middle East and is able to come home for a long weekend. My son will be here for several weeks on leave before he goes to Japan for 2 years. We will celebrate the missed Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays this weekend. I want to continue to feel this good and be present while they are here...lots of cooking to be done.
Wishing everyone a Terrific Thursday

Runner, I’m envious! Can’t wait to get back to running. Haven’t been out in 2 weeks because of my wine hangovers and then this cold. The cold is almost gone though, so I may try to get out tomorrow or Thursday.
Welcome to the new classmates. So glad you’re with us on this sober journey.
Thinking of our English teacher. Rattle, how are you?
1 week. Feeling pretty good today. Sleeping great, organs don’t ache anymore, weight is already dropping, and most importantly, I’m calmer and patient with my children. This is what I want....for good. Going to work at this.

Ending day 8.
Welcome to our new classmates! Always room for more on this journey.
Congrats on 30 tomorrow, Karen. That is great! You really sound good.
Rattle. So good to hear from you. Sorry you and the family are ill. We have lots of Illness going around our circles too. 24 days is great!
Runner, enjoy your children. How wonderful to be together this weekend.
Hello to the rest of my wonderful class.
Off to bed...still feeling a bit under the weather. It’s frustrating, but I’m really thankful to be sober. 💤💤💤

bobdrop, quitnow, thanks for thinking of me.
My wife, son, and I have all been under the weather this week. Something is going around here for sure. I’ve been dragging through work and heading to bed early in the night. I’m starting to feel better though. 24 days sober here.
Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have some more energy and can catch up with the posts. I hope all are doing well Keep fighting the good fight!

Hey classmates I'm hopping back in after some ups and downs again. Ugh - Day #3 is in full swing and I'm here to post for accountability and honesty. This business of buying a 6 pack nearly everyday after work just isn't working. I can't believe I've been doing this off and on about 4 months now. I've been pondering on the 'why' again. I admitted to myself that alcohol is my 'go to' in order to fill the void that is left from my recent crisis, my divorce. It masked the pain and the hurt, and when that wore off I made sure to keep that buzz going and forget about my real feelings. I've been recovering from learning how to be single again after 20 years. Balance is slowly creeping back in my life after years of being isolated, yet grabbing cold ones after work just keeps me bogged down at the same time. On this 3rd day, just like before, my feelings are on parade and instead of attempting to subdue them with booze, I'm letting my feelings say what they need to me and speak. Anywho, thanks for listening and I hope that everyone here is having success and strength today. Much love!
(((Leo))) ❤️
I think you found the why, or a lot of it. s
And I am really sorry for all that you have been through and are adjusting to now: it is hard stuff. So so painful.
It makes sense to me that you would want to subdue those feelings, but yeah, if it was me, that 6 pack would soon be 2 bottles of wine because that would not be anywhere near enough alcohol to raise my dopamine levels.
And it makes us feel so bad the next day, over and over again. Yet it is a ride that is just so hard to get off.
But you did. So glad to see you today.
Together, one day at a time: that's the only way I know how to do this.
