Went to elderly relie's place in the hills (photo) for lunch and collecting soil to repot some big plants. Beautiful day for it. That makes about 100kg of soil all up …

Ausgezeichnet!

That brings back memories of my teen age years studying German in school. It's a fun language to learn, though not practical on my continent.

Take care all!

Viel Gluck, Andy!

I took six years of German in Junior/Senior High School. I'm surprised how much of it I have actually retained over the years. I wouldn't say I'm 100% fluent, but I can carry on a basic conversation.

Habt einen Tollen Dienstag, overs!

Popping by to saw hi. I started scanning last night to catch up on the thread as my daughter was up teething every hour from 1:30-8am, with a bit of stomach bug. You guys helped me keep my patience.

I rarely get cravings, but I got a small one (more like a passing thought) while on vacation a few weeks ago and strangely one this week too, but an actual craving this time. Funny how it still crops up. Good news is that my tools are in place - and for both cases I’ve figured out an underlying cause. This current one is probably bc I decided to cut out sugar. The ‘itch’ of a craving is annoying - I had forgotten what it is like to experience it.

In any case, not posting much bc daughter keeps trying to grab the phone from me and it keeps me from completing thoughts. In fact gotta post now or I might lose it to her.

Sending everyone good thoughts as we head into fall/spring.

Good to see you SE and sounds like you are doing the right thing regarding the cravings. Hope your wee lass's suffering is soon ended, it's hateful when your wee one hurts and you can't explain how it'll be alright soon!

Hope you enjoyed the German Class Andy, I had a weak teacher at school, even us 'good' kids misbehaved in her class. I do remember giggling endlessly over 'varter' as it sounded like farter!

Dumfries is a lovely area of the borders, though I've never been.

I'm off to Spain again today for a little over 2 weeks R&R hubby joins me Friday.

Good morning Overs.

German went well. There are six of us in the class, our teacher is a 76 year old. He has studied old English and European languages. Did you know there used to be a letter for 'Th'?

SE, once the children were weaned any night shifts were mine. When our youngest had chicken pox she had an adults worth of spots on her little body, she just wanted to sleep on Dad.

Have a good day everyone.

I’m liking this language ‘tête-à-tête ‘ I’m might learn something here. Dankeschön.

toots, enjoy Spain, the weather will be just right, I imagine.

Good to see you SE.

Going to Mr. Mags Auntys’ funeral this morning. It was a shock for her family as it was so sudden.

Have a wonderful Wednesday my friends. xxxx

Good morning, Overs!

Andy, glad you like your German class. Stretching our minds a bit as we get older is good.

Hi Wolfie.

SE, teething was not my favorite time . The cravings are not surprising and imho, they seem like they can hit anytime but especially when we are stressed. A lot of people where I live drink wine with every dinner so I am around it a lot. Occasionally I feel tempted but not for long. My mind immediately goes through the routine I have (that is now automatic) for dealing with drinking thoughts and within seconds the wish or urge is gone.

Hi Mags,Toots, Dee, FBL, SG, Suze and all

German is funny in that they will just cram two or three words into one new, and impossibly long, new word to describe something.

Hi SE. Recognizing cravings for what they are is the key to staying on the sober path. Sleep deprivation doesn't help. I always remember HALT, and realize that any one of them are liking contributing to my thinking.

Enjoy Spain Toots!

Saskia, does the OFH offer wine at dinner, or do residents just bring their own?

Have a good day all!
