The Power Of Sobriety Thread (POST!) #8
Kathy is the one who recently told me about this thread and the good people on it. I'm sorry I let life get in the way before I started reading and getting slowly involved here. I'm glad I did. ♥
I posted in the Different Path thread - Kathys son let me know she passed on this morning US time.
Now Gilmer will always be a part of SR, through her posts and in the memories of her friends here.

I too have been rendered almost speechless since I have heard it was her time. I miss her so much, but she wanted us to be happy for her, and I am trying, but it is still tough and I am kind of numb right now. I'm glad for GG telling me to check out this thread. Maybe she knew I might need it.
Wishing you all love tonight.

Hi Aly. Hi Glee.
About Kathy. I said my goodbyes to her more than once. And she was probably as ready to die as a person can be. Maybe. Who can really say? Anyhow, I can't express grief well under any circumstances.
But she's the first person in probably 30 years I used the word friend with. The best translator of the Old Testament I ever heard. She could make an raucous adventure or find the presence of god in almost anything -- a little more likely the first, but I think they went hand-in-hand with her in a unique way. I never met anyone remotely like her.
I feel comfortable writing about her with you folks, maybe because she was here before she was sick, and because she and I often hung out in these little SR byways. She was nice to me on SR -- I'd find a remote thread to hide in and she'd come look for me. She opened me up a lot.
I'm glad we all have one another.

Thank you, Courage! That means a lot to me. She knew I liked these smaller "nooks" too, I don't much care for the really huge threads.
Take care of yourself the way you need to. I know you two were very close for a long time. xxoo

Kathy was indeed an amazing soul who spread hope and laughs to all of us while we dealt with our doubts and struggles. As Dee said, her words will live on here and elsewhere on SR forever.
Rest in peace dearest Kathy. You truly were a beacon in the dark night.

I am more comfortable expressing myself in the confines of a small thread. Checking in to see how everyone is holding up, especially Courage. Kathy told me you and she were as close as Carlos and I.
Kathy touched so many people’s lives. The Different Path thread is a testament to the cheer she so readily shared. I was grateful that she’d check in with us throughout her illness. What a wonderful person to care about my ups and downs while she was going through so much of her own. I’m glad for her faith and it’s ability to see her through.

Thanks Glee. We'll all miss her. I hope people will carry her memories & ways and lessons forward to others who can enjoy them and learn.
Maybe it's lucky that I've been distracted the last few days. The list of book queries came in and my co-author and I took the opportunity to read the book again word by word. Well, mostly There were problems with several figures, and overall I made 2,185 revisions. It was due Wednesday but I took 2 extra days. FBL! Hugs! Insanely, the book, reviews, and prices are already posted on the publisher's website, which is quite intimidating.
What are you all doing for the weekend?

Thanks, Aly. It's an academic book -- entirely possible no one will ever read it, except the copy editor and proof reader. The reviewers certainly didn't
FBL has been my inspiration. He's a multi-book man!

I had no idea we had so many talented writers here. How exciting!
Well, congrats nonetheless, Courage, writing something like that is surely a tough task! No wonder you've been stressing a bit with the deadlines you mentioned. Quite an accomplishment!
