Great work everyone! We are hitting some awesome milestones together.

Have a fantastic weekend.
Here’s to my weekend of 103,104 and 105.

Another week is beginning - thinking of you all today! Have a great day and just live 24! Together we are stronger for sure! I am blessed, and well aware of just today! I won’t get to hit a meeting today as I have a big event at work - 600+ people coming for our annual Sports Award dinner - we will be having guest appearance by a couple of Eagles players, and since they just won the Super Bowl this past season, it’s kind of a BIG deal! I am not much of a fan, but it will be a GREAT night for those who are, and I’m along for the ride!
OK... I best get moving - lots to accomplish - best part is I don’t have a hangover today and can be present this year not wrapped up in self, withdrawal and thinking about how fast I can get out to hit the liquor store before they close for the night... so awesome to not have to worry about that anymore.
Have a GREAT week everyone! Much LOVE!

Hi Minion
Sounds like a big day ahead and an exciting evening! Enjoy
I’m having a lazy morning as I have a late start today, which is nice.
It’s a month since Mum left this earth. I still can’t believe she’s gone. And 3 weeks since Dad went. It’s still quite surreal and I’m feeling really emotionally challenged, but have organised a phone counselling session so hopefully it will give me some perspective...
But I’m not drinking for which I’m extremely grateful. And grateful to all of you here at SR as I wouldn’t be sober without you all.
Sending love and support ❤️

Thanks Dee it was ok I guess, she was nice enough but it was a bit weird and detached. It felt a bit robotic actually, a bit like I was talking to one of those automated voices you get when you ring banks or insurance companies, but I’m sure she’s very nice. I’ve been to face to face counselling before which I much prefer. I’ll see how I go but I think I will look into face to face sessions if I want any more....

Hi guys!!
Hope all is well.

Willow- it is good you are being proactive and talking to someone- even if it on the phone. Better then talking to an empty wine bottle.

Minion- time is flying by for me too. It is weird, cause the first few days were eternity. I can’t believe it is mid September already and I am at 105 days.
And I can’t agree more about not having to rush to the store. That used to be the story of my life. Always rushing back to the store or my secret stash. No way to live or enjoy life. Not sure where you work... but they event with the Eagles sounds cool.

I just dropped off both my daughters to school. And I am home alone! No kids or hubby. Just my dog. Gonna take a shower and get a few things done around the house. Gotta pick up the youngest from preschool in 2 hours.

My birthday is Friday- any advice/thoughts/suggestions are welcomed on how to enjoy this day alcohol free. I know I can do it- but this is def my first birthday in at least 18 years that I will be sober...

I’m turning 38

Have a good one! Stay strong! One more!

Hi Bumblebee! I had my first sober birthday in 35 years, only 2 weeks after I stopped drinking. I was really worried that I would drink, especially because it was a milestone birthday (50) but in hindsight it wasn’t too bad

I guess you’ve got a few options, depending on whether you tell them all you’re not drinking. You could tell the full story of why you’re not drinking or just part of the story such as that you’re getting healthy (which is true) or on a health kick or losing weight or something like that. I told my sister that I wasn’t drinking so I had someone on board that knew. I didn’t tell everyone else so I had lots of people urging me to drink and that could be a problem if you don’t tell them all. I bought nonalcoholic wine and nice soft drinks and lots of food. I always had a drink in my hand so nobody could give me one. I was given gifts of 5 bottles of wine which I later gave away.

Dee shared a link on survival tips for social occasions which is really useful too

And check in here on SR whenever you want to, especially if you’re feeling tempted to drink. I hid out in the bathroom a couple of times. I also went to bed fairly early (my party was at home).

We’re with you on this, you can do it
