Hi junipers.
Hope all is well with you guys. Day 157. Feeling pretty good.

My my daughter was sick the past two days, throwing up and fever. As I was taking care of her, I was doing a lot of thinking.

It is a lot of work to take care of a sick 6 year old girl. She wants constant mommy cuddles, cleaning puke, giving medicine, wiping tears, taking temperature... all while doing all the other things I need to do and take care of my younger one. BUT it is a whole lot easier sober. I remember when I drank how irritable I would be with a sick child. But this time I had a lot more patience.

sick kids just don’t slee good. So I didnt sleep good, and I was tired. How did I survive so long on poor quality sleep? I just love sleeping. I love dreaming. And waking sober.

when you kid is sick, you so badly want them to feel better. Take away the pain for them. It’s tough emotionally. And I realized how very lucky I am to have two very healthy happy girls. I couldn’t imagine having a child that has a significant ongoing health issue. I give love and credit to those parents.

I am happy to report my daughter is feeling much better. She went to school today and is in gymnastics class now.

Have a a great day to anyone who took the time to read all this!!! Make it one more😊

I’m so glad your daughter is feeling better now Bumblebee
I agree, doing challenging things is definitely easier sober!
And I love sleeping too, I wish I slept better, my sleep is interrupted all the time, not for any reason, I just wake up a lot during the night. Have done for years and years.

Hi junipers!!
i hope you guys are all doing well. I’ve been around SR; just not posting as much.

thing are good for me. I really can’t complain at all. I believe Friday will be 6 months sober for me. Which is mind blowing.

my mood has been better, a lot less swings. I feel like I’m grieving alcohol less, and enjoying/appreciating other things more.

Holidays will be tough. But I figure I survived two vacations and many get togethers. It will just be another day, really.

recently I told my three closest friends I quit drinking and that I had a serious problem with alcohol. Their love and support was overwhelming.

They were surprised, like everyone else I’ve told this far. Which surprises me... I thought for sure it was obvious to outsiders. But I guess I am a pretty good at being sneaking and lying- not proud of that.

have a good day guys! And stay warm (depending where you live.) it is 28 degrees here... beer!

6 months is awesome Bumblebee
You’re doing great ❤️
I haven’t been posting here either, I just randomly checked just now and saw your post I’ve been posting in the May class (where I originally started on SR) and also a few other threads like the 24 hour and weekenders and a couple more. Happy 6 monthiversary

Hi all.

My last drink was May 31, 2018 so I probably should have posted in this forum prior to today. 211 days sober. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to stop in and say how happy I am to see you all doing so well. I stumbled back on day 77 in August (after having my "last" drink on May 31st MC). Got back on the horse a few days later and made it another 10 days sober before, unfortunately, returning to my old habits.

I will be finishing up one week with no beer this evening. I am actually in a far better place (physically, emotionally, spirtually) than I was back in the spring when I really started to try to stop drinking. My fear right now is that I am not taking it seriously enough. I start my weekend today, which was my bigging hangup this past spring. My plan is to keep it up.

Enough about me though. Congrats on making it through 2018 and best wishes in 2019.

Wolfie

Welcome back Wolfie - I can recommend the Class of January thread in
Newcomers Forum - no time like the present to start getting back to where you want to be.

Thanks Dee.

I plan on peaking in to say hi on this month's thread. You aren't kinding about "no time like the present". The past several months, I told myself "next week", "next month" and all of the sudden 4 months had passed. You can't wait for the "right" time. You just have to do it.
