BBG, I'm not personally familiar with kindling but have read about it. I'm not sure what your personal situation is, but I think it can be helpful to get some medical type of help if you have this issue. FWIW.

Hi Applekat!!
Hola class! I have a wedding to attend in November I had been worrying about. It turns out there'll be no alcohol at the reception so problem solved! My recovery so far has involved never being around it. Heck, the first six months or so I couldn't even watch people drink on tv. I'd turn the channel before my cravings kicked in. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

I think the really important thing there is to take drinking off the table as a viable option.

No matter what the reason is, there's always another way to deal with it without drinking. You have to find the courage to be uncomfortable for a little while until you find alternative strategies for coping with life, work, emotions or whatever it is

and..I know it's hard to reach out - but it's a skill we need to develop. The weekender thread is about that very subject right now - pop in and take a look if you haven't already

This gave me hope today D. Thankyou so very much xxxx

Good stuff all these posts.
SAM- 0600 Sunday now. I slept 6.5 hours. I slept with a forgotten friend I picked up in the City...ear plugs. Mind- there is still residul partying going on just outside my little unit even now. I am sooooo looking forward when I live in the uncity.

Welcome back Applekat

My withdrawals got worse and worse BBG - my last detox left me with ministrokes.

I'll never be the same again.

another really great reason not to go off on another bender.

Seriously! The two or three binges I’ve done in the past couple of months left me feeling way worse than years ago when I was a daily drinker. Ugh!

Hi Purps!

Happy to be sober tonight.

I feel the same Apple. It's definitely not like it used to be. Perhaps because we have the experience of sobriety to compare it to now. The feeling after a binge is soul destroying once you know how amazing sobriety feels and you still made the choice to drink.

Hi everyone. I'm sober but sad. I lost a dear old friend this week. I shouldn't say old as he was only in his young 40's. And he died from alcohol withdrawal. He refused medical help. He drank for almost 20 years straight, almost every day and then tried to quit on his own. I am just heartbroken and sick.

This disease is so awful. Alcohol is poison!!

I'm sorry for the sad news and stark reminder but this is real life.

Thanks in advance for your love and hugs.

LB- crap about your friend. My bro- was the same age when the same thing happened to him. Prayers. Look after yourself.
Walked 3.5 and a bit hours today- hard walkies, not dawdling. Had to stop because I got painful ears. (Ipod- music). The party people went until 0530 this morning. Strangely they are all quiet now. Walked a lot - as a mindful way of burning off sadness. Like the breathe in good vibes- breathe out bad.
Was amused...a young homeless guy demanded a cigarette from an asian couple. He cornered them. They happily gave him one - then walked off. NOPE- he called them back and demanded they light it. Saw at least 4 homeless guys- who had set up blankets, pillow, shopping trolley at the end of the bed. Almost like an army set up. Quite a few homeless people about..warmer weather. Having been in that culture- I watch- my psychoist would call it hypervigilance. I call it common sense. Feel a little less sad.

LunaBlue, that is terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Keets and Cristina - hope you both are doing okay. You are both very strong, but lean on us if you feel like it. We are here.

The wedding thing was pretty much as expected, but I am good this morning. But even the darn priest at the ceremony was promoting wine consumption!! Haha.

Busy day today - hope everyone else is doing great!!

Hi everyone!

LunaB - so sorry for your loss. You’re right a young life gone far too soon. Hugs.

Having a lazy afternoon here. Sunny and beautiful out so I should probably find some motivation and get Charlie out for a walk. But first some caffeine....
