Mish I'm so glad you're back! I've noticed that about myself too....after a few months under my belt the AV starts in with the "Every once in a while is okay" line of crap....then my mind is already made up. Guess that's what we need to prepare ourselves for. Great to see you!

Hey Keets! Have you been to the One Year and Under Thread? I've seen posts where that seems to be common AV behavior as you approach your first year....just a suggestion if you'd like to check it out.....good support in there as well.

Startin' fluid time has arrived! See you all in a little while

hi all- 'quiet ' day. Upstairs guy, after screaming near pyschotic alcohol fuelled obscenities late into last night has been very quiet. My 'closest thing to a friend' friend binged on cheap champagne and had a massive hangover- dropped in from trip to chemist. Reflected on the good old days when no hangovers and was considering buying valium from someone she knows. This girl (37) comes from a reasonable b-ground, smart and works. Always out for instant gratification/results. Only the very loud and often chemically altered homeless who congregate near here for the Sat fee Salvo's meal so far tonight.
A quiet day also be-c as I get busier- and push myself more..about every 4 or 5 days I get very sore and fatigued. No complaints from me. Better than dead. More than I ever did pre burns. More with less. Just means I have to pace myself.
2030 Sat here. Hope all are okay.

I think the really important thing there is to take drinking off the table as a viable option.

No matter what the reason is, there's always another way to deal with it without drinking. You have to find the courage to be uncomfortable for a little while until you find alternative strategies for coping with life, work, emotions or whatever it is

and..I know it's hard to reach out - but it's a skill we need to develop. The weekender thread is about that very subject right now - pop in and take a look if you haven't already

This is pure gold. Thanks Dee.

Hi Mish. Good to "see" you. It seems there are a few of us with pretty much your exact same problem. I think we continue to make progress even when we're not perfect. Keep at it.

Morning!!

Mish - glad you’re back and I think like a few others have said we get it....because we have lived it. I wonder (for me at least) if it all boils down to acceptance? After a period of sobriety I often have considered myself “cured” - which is laughable really. But I somehow believe I can now drink normally. And guess what?? I manage it once, twice....and then I’m right back where I started. Definitely not cured. Anyways just know we are here for you. Lots of water, sleep and good, healthy food. ❤️❤️

Dee - I second MITA. That post was pure gold.

Keets - glad you’re posting and not drinking. Keep talking it through. Remember what the end looks like.

PJ - glad your neighbour has quieted down. Hope you get some rest tonight.

Morning BBG!!

Enjoy breakfast MITA!!

Today we have Thanksgiving dinner with DH’s family. (the actual holiday is Monday) and we are going out to a local restaurant/wine bar. Meh.

Well off to find some startin’ fluid.

Hi Marchers! I wanted to check in again! I also need help “staying” sober for longer periods. Days and weeks I can do but I haven’t gotten past a full month more than once this year.

Great to see so many of you. Hope I can stick this time. I knew I needed extra help today because we had a big gathering yesterday at our house. I have a tendency to let go the day after. So, here I am!

I'm very sympathetic Applekat. I'm in the same boat. I don't really have any sage advice! Just don't give up!!! Dee says that sooner or later things will click if we just don't give up.

For the third day now I feel like crap. It starts at about 4 hours after getting up. I know it's alcohol related but I've never felt this way after a short bender before. I think I might be having the "kindle effect"! To many benders and recoveries!!!

Hi guys. Just wanted to check in quickly before the wedding event. I've mentally prepared - I think I'll be okay, but it will be a drunk fest with this crowd.

BBG, I'm not personally familiar with kindling but have read about it. I'm not sure what your personal situation is, but I think it can be helpful to get some medical type of help if you have this issue. FWIW.

Hi Applekat!!

Hi Applekat!!
Appreciate you MITA. It only lasts a few hours though. 2 or 3.
