SFL- I write all the time. I carry paper- any sort with me and just write. It is like talking to a professional friend (therapist) but free. It also gives me (with date/time/place) a snap shot of my thinking. Journal writing is like professional scrap booking with balls.
I liken myself (admittedly my decline to infamy was much more extreme than most) to being an emotional child when I sobered up. I reacted to the pain, loneliness, foreseen rejection...as a child would. THAT is my challenge now.

Checking in for 24. Yesterday came and went. No dramas and peaceful. I received notification for renewal of my driver's licence. Looking forward to getting a new card as it will be absent the '0' condition which means zero alcohol. For the first 3 years after gaining my licence back, I had this condition. It will finally get removed from end July. Yay ! It was a source of shame for me.

Congrats to the milestoners ! Keep moving forward ! The first month is the toughest by far. It gradually becomes easier, one little moment at a time !

Another 24 hours of compassion, serenity and sobriety pls! Its 8:33am here !

Hi everyone,

I was glad I saw my friend, who is still drinking heavily. Not that I am happy that she is, more that I needed to see that, and she needed to see the sober me. We had a chat where my not drinking was the topic, and I simply said it gives me headaches, ruins my sleep, exercise and makes me sad--I said I am becoming intolerant to it.

It was so easy to say it, and she nodded in some sort of agreement. I was worried about explaining but it was easy. She said she would love to go on the lake hiking trails with me sober since that's one of my favorite things to do. It was cool. But hard too--I still saw what alcohol was doing to her, and her husband especially the following morning. That was me not long ago. I am so, so grateful to be free. Even if I have to face the truth and it is ugly. If I can quit they can too. Maybe it will happen. I don't think I can spend a ton of time with her but I don't have to end the friendship either.

I hope you have a great sober day or night and 24 more for me please on Day 62.

xo

Thanks, I've been waiting for it for the past couple weeks and got so busy today that just remembered... And now I'm too tired to celebrate or think of anything. Thanks for being here, good people of SR.

LOL Well, that's something worth celebrating with a dinner out or some special way! Maybe tomorrow after you've had a good rest. ;-) So awesome!

Oh calamity... I even ate too much at dinner so now not even the thought of ice cream excites me. Interesting problems, I know...

I'm in the same boat on having eaten too much today. Having a bit of a craving most of the evening, so I've snacked instead. I just poured a mix of grapefruit/seltzer water and sipping on it to avoid eating anymore tonight. It seems to be helping.

Anyway, I know hearing about my eating habits of the day can't be very exciting. Congrats again on your success. Enjoy your night, well deserved!

Thank you, Tinker. I know what I'm looking forward to tonight - getting into the book "Big Little Lies", should be a fun read. I didn't watch the series on purpose so I could chain watch it afterwards. So there's my treat.
