Good morning everyone! I'm getting ready to put a turkey in the smoker to get ready for our thanksgiving meal! Hey this is my second sober thanksgiving in a row. It is just a good time to reflect and to be thankful that I can do this and make this my new "normal". Have a good day everyone!

Thanks Dee for the holiday wishes and the new thread!

Itch, I am kind of shocked that you are considering moving to Canada. Please keep us updated on the process, and how it feels being an American in Canada. My wife has been pleading with me to consider doing the same. I too do not relish living in a nation where hatred of others is the norm. Maybe you can start a separate thread: A sober American's travels throughout the Great White North!

Have a great day all!

Gilmer- do you realise that unlike America- Australia and Canada just asked the British to leave? Hoping all here are having a happy- or at least sober, safe, sane and peaceful holiday. I had never heard of black Friday like that before.
In Adelaide black Friday is said to remember a terrible wild fire that turned into a fire storm- the skyline at midnight was as bright as dawn. Many people died horrible, terrible deaths- from inhalation and burns. On that cheery note- avagood'un. PJ

Evening overs

Love your rendition toots! I don't know about page though, sometimes its chapters!

Happy thanksgiving.

I bought a lifelikechristmas tree off the internet which seems a tad too big, hubby thinks. It looks like I may have to have a jig about with the furniture to fit it in! It'll look good when I dress it next weekend.

I was up in the night with hubby coughing etc, I couldn't sleep so I turned on the TV and a film was just starting on bbc 1. The box, it was a psychological thriller. It was certainly strange if anyone likes those sort of films. Though it came out in 2009 so I guess most would have seen it who is interested enough. I'm still getting my head around it.

Have an enjoyable time, whatever you're doing.

No, Phoenix--I had no idea that all Australia and Canada had to do was ask Great Britain to leave! I guess they had gotten weary of maintaining colonies by that point.

Enjoyed my second sober Thanksgiving with my parents, sister, and niece. It was a nice day with good food and conversations. It was funny listening to my parents complain about all of the doctor appointments they have to go to, they being in their 80's! Thankful to spend quality time with my parents, which I seldom get to do and feel guilty about at times.

Thankful for family, friends and the great folks that I have met here on SR who showed me how to turn my life around!

Good night all!

Hello wise old timers. I did not hit the gym today- it hit me. Doing a carefully supervised workout regime to increase strength and flexibility to compensate injured stuff from booze burns. Doing well- parts of me I did not know existed are sore, in a good way.

Good morning, Overs!

I've found some more benefits in living at the OFH: no cooking for turkey day, no clean up and no interest in stuffing myself along with the turkey

Have a frugal Black Friday to those who have this massive shopping day and a fantastic one to those who don't have or choose to ignore this insane custom.

I never understood the whole Black Friday insanity. Lots of stores opened at 6:00pm last night. I refuse to buy anything at any store on Thanksgiving, as I feel it is one day that everyone not in a critical human support role should have off to enjoy with their family. I sense there is a growing backlash against Thanksgiving day shopping, and if enough folks don't engage, it will go away. Do it online if you must do a Thanksgiving sale, imho. OK, I will get off my pulpit now.

Have a great day everyone!

At one such post Christmas sale here- a lady was so determined to get in first- the opening doors slammed shut on her hand and tore her finger off. She left it there and got her bargain. Security followed the blood trail.
